i cannot believe that in this day and age people are discussing the use of blow torches or even hot air guns.  its not the fucking 80s.  the first time i ever came on this site i saw the high priority given to the no chipping gospel.  we is all meant to respect the rock yo.  blowtorches?? some people :shout:

and  a lawn benefits from regular forking to aerate the soil.  insert tines to depth of six inches or so every footor so. this should be done after the scarification to remove moss and dead material.  top dress your lawn with a mixof sand and compost.  mixing this with grass seed gives a good solution to bald patches but should be covered with patch of chicken wire to stop birds pilfering the seed.  dandelions should be removed with a potato peelr or apple corer to remove the deep tap root.  lawns should be mown regularly but always vary the direction.  dont use lawn foods from the garden centre as they tend to be full of chemicals which are bad for invertebrates and house hold pets.  persomally i dont think a weedy lawn is too bad cos you tend to get lots of good plants like dasies/buttercups and even thymes which smell good when crushed.
read it and weep then go hug a tree.
ps i have about 5 sq metres of concret in my yard.

Chill, personally I only expressed mild interest in looking at the hot air gun ting. I was interested to know if there is anything out there which would dry holds via increased air flow rather than extreme heating, this may or may not be possible to do with a hot airgun held at a distance. I'm not familiar with them and know not if they have temp settings. Is there such a thing as a cold air gun?

61) Porridge Gun

Grade: 6a First Ascent: -1986
Rating: 2 Star -
Brilliant climbing, both technical and strenuous and on perfect rock. It eases off slightly towards the top, but it is still a long way down! Start one metre right and climb up and left until it is possible to finish up Fertile Delta. The number [60] is painted on the rock.

gold star if you guess the crag.

I thought Porridge Gun was pretty hard for a V3.  I heard Longridge should be opening this year sometime although the specific date isn't known.  If you've pledged money I wouldn't be too surprised if you're asked to cough up for it soon.

I might have something - will find out tommorrow hopefully.

CJD and Nodder went down yesterday, but it was seeping badly, so they didn't get on it.

Nodder did a new sds to VG Central (page 237) which sounds rather good. Not sure of grade, probably V6ish.
