Auto electrician near Sheffield
July 31, 2023, 09:36:56 am
I've had to replace my Berlingo micro camper, and the new one has one of these fancy-pants smart alternators.

In the old van I used a battery-2-battery (B2B) charger to charge the leisure battery in "voltage sensing mode", so when the car was running the battery charged. The new alternator means this won't work very well (the alternator voltage will drop after running for a while).

The B2B charger I've got can be switched by a D+ signal instead - i.e a ~12v signal that's only live when the engine is running. I've given up trying to find such a signal on my 2017 Berlingo, so I'm looking for a decent auto electrician in or about Sheffield to give me a hand.

Does anyone have any recommendations or (long shot) know how to find a D+ signal on a 2017 Berlingo Multispace?

Not an autoelectrician however I can recommend this guy who does campervan/caravan/motorhome servicing. Sure he would be able to get the B2B charger up and running for you.

Should have mentioned he is based in Dodworth near Barnsley so not miles from Sheffield.

I had an issue with our elec car and the local garage out here in the Peak recommended N. Grayson on Ulverstone Rd just by the Works. He fixed the problem really quickly and was good value as well. 0114 2589225.

Cheers guys; sorted now!

In case anyone else is doing something similar, it turns out fuse #11 is the one you need. Only live when engine running and is for heater fans so no disaster if it fails

I second this for others with auto electric issues. He also took the time to explain the issue to me and suggested a few possible solutions of varying prices.
