Portable Fingerboards
February 09, 2023, 01:38:07 pm
I’m currently unable to climb so I’m going to have resort to some deadhanging. I have a Beastmaker but I don’t have a door way or anywhere I can hang underneath it. I tried it above a window in the garage but my knees catching on the wall underneath push me off.
So I was thinking about getting a portable one which I can hang off a jug or a bolt on my board. Can you use these like a normal one or are they too wobbly when you start adding weight etc.

I use this one:

Hang it on a jug and have added up to 55kg whilst on it with no problems.

I've done weighted hangs on a portable before, works fine. Ash Climbing one is top drawer in my opinion.

I used one of these a lot during lockdown

It was pretty handy, and it didn't feel like it rotated at all when doing hangs which was nice, the middle edges are also nice for one armer training.

Something to consider with portable boards is that they tend to be (by design) quite narrow, which can make for an unnatural shoulder position in the hang, which could lead to problems if using extensively and for weighted hangs etc.
I'm sure you've got it covered, but I thought worth mentioning.
