Haven't started reading Echoes yet and I've no capacity for holding such details of the peaks in my head and had to use a map! That was the only 'garden' we saw around all the high altitude huts/houses.

Great pics Slackers, you wouldn't think they were taken with a point and shoot, great sharpness and colours, also as Andy pointed out that dog is ace.

Taken with a Canon S95 which is really very good (someone told me its the same sensor as int eh G10 or G12 and generally the same camera just lacking a few features).  Small, fits in the pocket nicely and can be operated with mittens on.

Strong sunlight == fast shutter to help counter my unsteady hand.

Got up for a piss in the middle of the night and had to grab the camera.  These were snapped around 22:30 in sandles, pants and long-sleeve t-shirt, didn't want to miss the clouds faffing around getting dressed!

Taken on my iphone and instagrammed (apologies) whilst on a recent family holiday to the Lake District but am quite pleased with how these came out...

Please be gentle as I haven't got a clue what I'm doing when it comes to photography!

Just as a matter of interest I thought I'd upload the un-instagrammed versions for comparison and to see if anyone would care to offer advice/comment?

Prefer unInstagrammed versions, but then I have an intenes dislike for Instagram. All fairly well exposed and composed with nice low light, but

1) Lacks any real subject; would probably benefit from less (dead) foreground and more sky maybe

2) Nice idea, but exposure a bit under maybe; hard to get right with tricky lighting. Again, might have benefitted from less foreground, and maybe shot in portrait layout to make most of fence as lead in?

3) nice colours and bit of a composition, but might have done with a bit of cropping.

Don't be shy to try taking a few photos of the same subject and see which ones you prefer. Taking a few photos costs nothing!
