Last Thursday after having gotten up at 00:30, left camp at 01:30 crossed a horrendous boulder field glacier in the dark by head torch, and ascended a total of 1100m in five and a half hours I stood on top of Pisco (5752m).  The views at sunrise and from the summit were just about worth it, but I don't think I'm really a mountaineer (going to have another go in a few days with the lower Urus East peak though).  These are from my phone, more (and better) shots from the Canon S95 when I return (which has performed brilliantly in the cold and can be used wearing mittens too)...

This was from the descent half way bak across the crappy boulder ridden glaciar, the line we took followed the ridge on the other side of the mountain (where it was a lot flatter, mostly just walking, but a few steep sections which required front-pointing and axes)...

The Cultural Centre in Lima had a free art exhibition which included pictures by Otto Placht which I thought were great (he's a Czech artist who's spent a lot of time in South America, tripping out on Ayahusha and other psychedelics if these are anything to go by)...
