I will be upgrading database software today (29th Sept) - this will mean that most parts of ukb will be down for some time, possibly for up to several hours.

All forums will be locked prior to this, so that up to date backups can be made.

I know it's a crap time to do it, but I wanna get on with the new site, and this is holding it up - sorry!

Hopefully shouldn't take that long though.

Go for it B!

P.S. Make sure something gets b0rked in the process (as is invariable with such things). Accidentally erasing everyone's log-ins is a good one   As is finding something intractable to fix so that the site is down for a week and half the users give up and go away

Oh yee of little faith

Nothing got borked, I just had a bit of a puzzler when rebuilding php which is what took the time.

Brand spanky new version of MySQL - should make the forums faster now.

i resorted to doing some work, and reading the bowderstone topo.

b.com isa bit wack really, cos the USA is 5-7 hours behind us, its always dead. not that thered be any climbing discussed anyway - i just go on to look at the threads of almost identical sequential photos of generic lowball problems.
