The latest offering from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds is out. Seems pretty good to me. Getting good write-ups too.

We went to see the film on Saturday night.  Very moving and heart renching at times.

I'll have to check that out. I believe the album is all in wake of his son's death, after falling off a cliff. Absolutely tragic.

As I understand it, though the album is deeply informed the death of Cave's son, much of it was already written. I'm not sure whether recording had begun.

That's pretty much it.  He/they had written most of the songs and his son tragically died midway through recording the album and he pressed on anyway, working through it all.  The film is powerful stuff, starting off as a making-an-album documentary then shifts gears into a very intimate and arresting portrayal of grief, loss and ageing.  Me and Wass were totally floored by it along with everyone else in the cinema.  The ending is just heartbreaking....

I would have liked to see the film, not heard about it until now, and not showing locally anymore :(

Have since picked this album up, all I can say is wow.
Grief in musical form.
Girl in Amber is standout for me

I was initially disappointed with it when I got it, but like all the best music I guess, it seems to be getting better on every listen.
