Where to buy a pad in Fontainebleau?
April 11, 2016, 06:19:37 pm
...preferably reasonably priced. No decent pads in vieux campeur where I live (grenoble). I know about the big decathlon next door to the supermarket, but I'm sure I've been before and the selection was poor.

Do you pay through the nose for buying in and around font?

Cheers!

PS. If anyone's kicking around next week I'll be there with my girlfriend!

Not sure what there is in Font town, but if you're staying Paris side you could try blockout in Lisses. I got my Snap pad there, they had other stuff, but I'd ring them if I was after something specific.

Obviously I'm assuming you are coming by car. No interest in taking your girlfriend on a tour of the 20 odd branches of Vieux Campeur in Paris on a rest day?

I take it you don't have time for AVC to get one sent from another shop? Or stop by Lyon on the way?

I'm very happy with my Paddy Dominator http://www.auvieuxcampeur.fr/terre/camping-et-randonnee/materiel-de-montagne-d-escalade-et-de-grimpe/bloc-bouldering/crash-pad/paddy-dominator-crash-pad.html

The big carrefour at Villiers had Petzl pads in last time i was there, good price too. The climbing shop (S'cape) in Font centre has a decent selection but cheap it is not!

Sadly not! I called in and asked the guy to ringng around (but for the Moonwalk, bit cheaper and more fabia friendly) and there weren't any anywhere. He said to order one in could take 5+ days from the depot, so by the time it arrives we'd be in font!

Might call in and try the dominator instead, but they definitely didn't have any in stock in Grenoble.

Unfortunately driving from south of Paris, but might try it for a last minute effort.
Neither of us have pads as it is, so we can't really get by without one.

I noticed the other week that the pizza place in Arbonne La Foret has pads to rent

might be better than a rushed purchase

I've never hired a pad from them, but have stayed in the Gites owned by the same folks who own the pizza place in Arbonne.

The pads looked decent enough and the folks are really, really friendly. I can't remember how much it cost but decided that if ever we were in font without pads we'd just hire them from these folks.

Worth noting that the pads are kept at their Gites (really close to Bas Cuvier), I believe.

You can also rent from S'Cape in Fontainebleau.

the s'cape shop in fontainebleau centre usually has a good selection of black diamond and snap pads, and reasonably priced (competing with the vieux campeur in paris)

Cheers all,

Managed to luck out and found a shop with ocun pads in the sale just outside of Grenoble, perfect.
