On a side note, I am a bit undecided about the sizing of the new radial master cylinder I'm about to buy. Lots of conflicting infos out there really.
So, diameter will be 19 because of double disc. Right.
Now, pivot.
Some say 18/19 is better for road use, some others say 20.
I know it's a matter of leverages, but do anyone have personal experience to share on here?

Here you with the latest news.
On the bus right now to reach an isolated village at the foot of the Appennines to collect the fixed SV.
The new brake master cylinder affair is on hold, because I bought new calipers from a Cbr 600 F.
They need new brackets and a rebuild kit, but there's no hurry. Word on the street is that they fit perfectly with the original axial master cylinder. A new one would be just too much for road use.
Then.
Yesterday I collected the 125 after total engine rebuild. She runs like sh*t. Does not rev, does not go beyond 8.500 rpm.
Very pi***d. Took her back to the mechanic.
Will keep you posted.

Yesterday I collected my new 2014 ZX-6R! I don't have any great photos yet as the ride home was a torrential 2.5 hour motorway journey, but I snapped this one in its new home:

https://ibb.co/tC1Qn8Z

It's a previous Cat D, so I got it for a really good price - I intend to do some track days so I wasn't looking to spend loads. It's mostly running really good, there's just one leaky fork seal which I got some money knocked off for and cosmetically there's a small ding in the tank and some scratches, but otherwise not bad at all.

I'm considering having a go at the fork seals myself, but can't find any guides for this ninja model and looking at tools needed, i've noted some spring compressors stating 'does not work for Showa big piston fork', so i'm not sure what I will need!

Other jobs that i'm tempted to have a go at:

fill the dent and respray the tank.
valve clearances in the next couple thousand miles.

If Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance taught me anything I'll start working on my own supply of gumption before picking up any tools.

Cheers guys, finally back at home.
While I was in a bar having a quick snack, some c**t stole my gloves.

Very quick update.

First Nibs, great that things weren't so bad. I think it's generally the way; thinking the worst when something goes wrong.

Liamhutuh89. Fantastic  :dance1:
Happy to compare notes. Drop me a line if you like.

I've managed to put mine back together, and popped out for a few scrapes on my first ride in weeks yesterday. Will give a proper update later.

Hopefully the worst of summer wetness is behind us for a little bit.
LH89, your ride back sounds epic.

I've been a bit hunkered down during the best spell of weather we've had until recently.

Getting the bike back on the road has taken a bit of time. Although my bike is in fantastic condition, it's an older model ZX6R and parts are hard to come by.

Managed to pick up a second hand sump pan from a breakers in Cheshire. I'd cracked the original when I caught the alley-way step with the sump plug last year (see above). The crack only appeared in full sight when I tried to replace it for an oil/filter change. Although fine, it was in a bad way externally. Found a guy near Chesterfield who does vapour blasting, and £40 later, I had this (thanks Trevor):

Resprayed the exhaust downpipes while I was at it. I've been slightly gripped that I might have dislodged one of the O-rings while replacing the pan, but no flicker from the oil pressure light, so reckon I'm probably OK.

Took the bike out for a spin and headspace last night. Beautiful out there too.

I haven’t ridden a bike in forever but do like popping by this thread. A mate of mine has just rebuilt a vintage Bultaco

Don't get me started on cross or trial...
I am surrounded by woods for miles and miles, it could be amazing to have a(nother) bike here...

Here's an other bike  ;)

Completely ridiculous in my opinion, and at £100,000 this offering from Aston Martin is not cool at all:

It's a track only bike too. Maybe the set up would work at Santa Pod, certainly not flicking through the bus stop at Mallory.

I remember meeting a guy at Cadwell Park (in '91) who'd just bought his FZR600 (Yamaha. Like Bubba's  ;)) for £600 from a chap at the TT. A bit taped up, but properly sorted in all the right places. That was a cool bike

An other bike:  :great:

Good links Dave.
The AM isn't bad at all, but it looks more a design experiment than anything else. It also looks very similar to this thing from the past, that many of us will remember well, the mythical Suzuki Falcorustyco:
https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/suzu/suzuki_falcorustyco_concept.htm.
Surely something that will end up in big Saudi Arabian garages or London living rooms?
If we think that a Ducati Desmosedici fully tuned with all the original parts come at 75K... and that's the closest thing to a MotoGP bike you can possibly have!
Or a 1098 SBK tuned for 15K!!!
In any case not an ugly top line, but the Predator-like front is horrible.
Would still get the Yamaha though.

Ha funny, my dad had a that Bultaco Sherpa when i was a kid, 84-90 sort of time. Used to take it up to Conisborough quarry and i'd accompany him on my bmx. Also had a Maico 400 that he was scared of.

Ha, yes! Hub steering bikes.
They've all tended to look the same, but remember this one.

My eyes homed in on RG500 Gamma - words that still do funny things to me  ;D

Going to pop out for a blast in a little bit. Some wind, but nice and dry.

I follow quite a few bike forums, and you couldn't believe how many 250 and 500 2stroke replicas people build here in Italy. Apparently there are quite a few engines available.
There's one guy who, whith others, is building an OW01 replica from scratch. I mean, he even built the frame!

That is truly amazing devotion to detail. Amazing welding, and machining. You have to wonder though, if there are better ways of investing those talents.

The RG is delicious! Yes, stunning.

Good blast out into the peak in the hot weather this evening. Might make a day of it tomorrow. Great way to clear the head at the moment.

Here's the OWO1 though. One of my all time faves. (FZR 750R). I love the squared off tank.

https://raresportbikesforsale.com/tag/ow01/

I had to check. I remember it being the "pin-up girl" on Graeme Alderson's wall, back in 1992. I thought Fogarty won the TT on it in 1992, but had fastest lap.

This video is glorious:

Going to clean my visor  ;D

Fantastic, Dave!
Thanks for the video, it's indeed glorious. I think that more or less at half time it features the famous lefthander on which Milky Quayle clipped the wall with his right shoulder and exploded.
Now I'd better go and buy a lottery ticket for those auctions.

Arrived in Matlock as things were thinning out. Fourth from R is a Triumph Rocket 3 (2500cc!).
Had no one there to help me, so was pathetically defeated by a large portion of chips. Plenty of seagulls (Terns) about, making it sound more like Llandudno. Matlock Bath is more random than quantum fluctuations at the birth of the cosmos.

Phat Harley:

I think I counted six ZXRs. This one's wearing it's 24 years pretty well  ;D

Cool scene at Matlock Dave!
Checked out the Triumph, not my cup of tea but a nice line.
On a side note, if all stars align I could be able to go on a roadtrip to the Dolimites!

Did 6 hours round the peak today with my mate on my first big ride out! My upper back is feeling it, but it's proof of concept that a longer ride is not implausible. Thinking of trying the North coast 500. Is it worth it?
