1 - weights session
2 - core and theraband
3 - CV session at home
4 - quick jog to try get some photos at breakwater in near darkness, then 2 hour session at wall. Felt OK, but heavy
5 - 20 min walk, light core session
6 - 40 min walk, 2 hour wall session. Climbed OK, but feeling jaded. Mates left early and I was 1 of 2 actually bouldering, but ended up just lapping a few easier problems - (I guess working towards 4 x 4s, but more like 3 x 3s)
7- ten minute run in pissing rain from bus stop to train station to get car after all trains cancelled due to flooding. 25 min cardio at home - realised I'm skiing in 3.5 weeks, and not done much cardio in a while.
8 - twenty min walk from car to work, and same on way back, tried doing some deadlifts and squats.
9 - morning swim with daughter, twenty min walk in pissing rain with kids. Weights.
10 - 20 min walk with kids, out on bike for an hour after dark. Cold but dressed right for it, only thing that suffered was thumbs went numb.
11 - lowest output day so far. Managed 10 mins of theraband while waiting at swimming lessons, and about 10 mins at home, spent rest of evening working. Probably mark it up as a fail.
12- Some CV, squats, deadlifts (of a sort - using 2 heaviest kettlebells) knees make worrying clicky noises though. Add a bit of core. Weight this morning 13st 8, one lb above my acceptable "top" limit. Convinced no sweets, chocolate or crisps all week is what has made the difference.
13 - Meant to do wall session, but got stuck and work wading through a tide of ill thought out shit (aka proofreading and editing) so only walked 20 mins from car to work and back to car.
14 - half hour weights and CV
15 - not much, spent the evening digging out ski kit, finding stuff unused since last winter trimming touring skins, loading van etc. But didn't actually sit down all evening, so guess I was doing something.
16 - early start, drove to Ben Lawers, made it to upper car park (with snow chains) skinned up the valley and across to ridge. As we were ascending weather got worse; low cloud and snowing quite heavily (in spite of forecast). Due to deteriorating visibility we got as far as top of Beinn Ghlas (1103m - still Munro height) and decided it was pointless verging on silly to press on to the top of Lawers, so we descended the NW side down to the valley on great light snow which would have been fun if we could see anything. We dropped into the corrie with the intention of going back up Meall Corranaich, but by now vis was getting pretty poor so we skinned back up the side of Beinn  Ghlas to a convenient level and then skied back down and carried on all the way to about 20 m short of the road. Horizontal distance covered - 6 miles. 5 hours on the go.
17 - feeling pretty broken, has run around in garden with kids in morning, and then to local park with kids, who had fun playing on the frozen pond.
18 - bit of theraband while waiting at swimming lessons. Some CV, weights and core in evening.
19 - short walk in morning to work, managed a bit stretching during the day, but left office at 9:45pm, so not much time to do much.
20 - 20 min walk to work and back. Bouldering session at wall. felt OK but knackered from previous day at work, and lack of sleep night before. Managed 2 productive hours, then hung about doing easy stuff and shooting the shit.
21 - 20 min walk to works and back. Some CV and core at home.

1/1 - an hour or so of lugging around and chopping up wood.
2/1 - Beacon for a wall session. Got pumped on the roof circuits.
3/1 - mix of generic pushups, weights and that sort of thing. My finger feels a bit sore from yesterday.
4/1 - Wall is all being reset so I do some pullup sets and then potter home, where I have a go at a 7:3 fingerboard session, which feels very hard in my current state.
5/1 - finger completely better. Turbo trainer session - Sufferfest "The Hunted". Hard work.
6/1 - wall. Good progress on several problems. Too busy to do stamina and had forgotten good shoes for the board. Some pullups.
7/1 - wall. More problems worked out for ancap circuit. Board. Then tried some triples bit couldn't really make it work, have to try different problems. Pullups to finish.
8/1 - wall. Too busy for stamina, again. Frustrating. Problems for the AnCap circuit
9/1 - wall. Thin skin. Pushed on and did the boulder circuit ancap session - first circuit felt fairly steady but shuffled the order round a bit and felt very worked by the end of the second set. Skin too trashed to do anything else.
10/1 - Cuttings. Some easier routes and a few goes on Hall of Mirrors. Got it in two but knee a bit sore so didn't have that extra go.
11/1 - went out at lunch for a walk - about an hour. Otherwise rest
12/1 - wall. Board session. Progress on projects. Rammed! Need these New Years Resolution folk to get bored of it! Wide pulls ad bottom pulls.
13/1 am - fingerboard2. Double pullups on a 19mm edge at 95.5kg. Improvement over last time. Last set tried to upgrade to 96.6kg, managed 1 pullup but not a second.
13/1 pm - wall. Tried linked boulders, managed a solid first circuit, stepped up the difficulty a bit. However, it was making my elbows sore so I went home and did rehab.
14/1 - nothing really - usual walk to/fro work
15/1 - ditto
16/1 - Cuttings boulderfield. Ticked first Fb7 of the year relatively quickly with Terminator (7A). First of many, I hope?! Lovely sunshine to start but then really cold once the cloud came in. Watched friends and others on Nightmare Scenario and Fighting Torque which have gone on the list as things to try over the next few months.

Technically maybe still on for Sharkathon completion but my performance on 14-15th was disappointing!

It got worse! No mental energy spare for anything after work this week, too busy.

17/1 - continuity training
18/1 - 20/1 - Nada. Exhausting.
21/1 - wall. Continuity. Ticked a board project. Felt strong. Progress on other things.

Weight gradually falling which I'm very pleased with given my response to stress is usually chocolate.

week one
At least 30 mins per day mostly bike with one run and one rowing machine session. Plus two 2 hours wall sessions. weekly average weight was 81.2kg down to 80.8Kg so a pretty slow start but at least heading in the right direction. Also all the Christmas goodies have gone from the fridge so things might pick up a bit now.

Week Two
At least 45 mins of cardio each day mostly bike or run and three two hour wall sessions. Weight rather variable but weeks average is 80.4kg

Week three
5 days of 75 mins on the bike  (but also 2 days of nothing over the weekend)  three two hour wall sessions weight sill variable but weekly average down 80.1kg so still heading in the right direction.

21 - 2.5 hours indoor routes. Went for a gentle session and doubled up on routes to reintroduce stamina. Felt fine, could have done longer.
22 - 20 mins run (with 1 min walking in middle). Hard.

Doing okay this week. But still struggling to get my harness done up despite all this sharking. I think part of what keeps me going is burying my head in the sand and ignoring the fact that it seems to be doing fuck all for weight and fitness.

San Miguel 0,0 - not bad, a fuck of a lot better than the Bavaria / Cobra. Still haven't seen the Erdinger 0%, maybe it is a Waitrose exclusive.

Yeah had that a week or two back. Pretty bland. I've found the 0,0s tend to be on the bland side (naturally) or too malty and sickly like the Cobra / Bavaria. Sainsbury's Czech 0.5 is winning so far.

Erdinger is the one. Although Sainsbury's Czech isn't too bad. I've found Erdinger in Sainsbury and Morrisons? £1.20 a bottle usually.

I started this thread, but haven't managed to do a dedicated 30 mins of exercise every day unfortunately. But I have kept off the drink (well technically Erdinger is less than 0.5%) and I'd say this is the longest time I've gone with out it in my whole adult life. That's scary.

I lost about 3 kgs when I spent a month off the wine last year. I still can't recommend it.

The most noticeable difference has been in my facial skin, which has always been crap. It's a lot better these days, which makes me happy, but hasn't improved my climbing at all. Oh, and my bank balance is a lot better as well! I weighed 12st 13lbs on the 1st of January, I now weigh 12st 10lbs, so a little lighter too.

I'd hoped it'd be a revelation, and my climbing would shoot through the roof. But I've maybe been a little optimistic as I've only climbed once this year, and I've had a whole heap of other stuff going on like new house, new job etc. So maybe my training can start properly in February when I'm a bit more sorted.

I'd say this is the longest time I've gone with out it in my whole adult life. That's scary.

I had a period in my student days when I would hardly drink at all most of the time, but when I went to a party I would take a bottle of tequila and drink it. Possibly scarier. Especially when I got to the point where i felt absolutely fine the next day.

Erdinger is the one.

My experience - living just round the corner from the Erdinger brewery - is that "alcohol free" weissbier is perfectly drinkable, whereas alcohol free normal beer is just horrible.

I don't how it gets marketed in .uk, but over here some pedants are peeved that beer with 0.5% alcohol is labelled "alcohol free". But here's a report of a study (in German, google translate might be of assistance) in which they found that drinking 0.5% beer had no measurable effect on blood alcohol level.

Not sure how it works with the low alcohol ones, but Weissbier is normally very calorific - c.500 per half litre iirc.

This reckons 125 calories per bottle. Makes sense, I suppose. A lot of the calories in alcoholic drinks are in the alcohol itself.

BEER!!

Yes will definitely try the Erdinger - I do keep checking the supermarkets. My brother really rates Bavaria 0,0 wheat beer which I recall being pretty nice.

The low-calorie-ness is a major selling point to me, this one - http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/gb/groceries/sainsburys-low-alcohol-czech-lager-500ml?langId=44&storeId=10151&krypto=8yKAG96Acgxky%2Fb%2BeWdK1c5OOwomUIVhFTbRloeVceZ%2FKlA6JJOA%2FD7fz9guwWViL0Wbrrd7F0W9%0A9lSPdPIDsuSS%2FLeZHE%2Fzz8sXgfT64kFfB2o8q7gYq4nxhcgxfLmT&ddkey=http:gb/groceries/sainsburys-low-alcohol-czech-lager-500ml - clocks in at 87 calories / 500ml bottle. I've happy considering 0.5% as no / low alcohol, it really is fuck all.

23 - swimming in morning with daughter, sat on train to Glasgow, walked around Glasgow a bit. At and drank too much.
24 - bit hungover, 30 min walk to TCA, fairly decent 2 hrs plus bouldering session with Fultonius et al. Walked half hour back to city centre. Sat on train and ate crap. Half hour core and weights in evening.

25 - 2.5 hours indoor routes. GCC so shorter and sharper, felt a bit battered after yesterday but did fine. Fingers got a good workout.

Now ruining it all with a Burn's Night haggis supper, but needs must. Diet Irn Bru and only a wee dram to finish. Went into a larger Sainsbury's, still no bloody Erdinger 0.5.
