What's with all the diet stuff? Train every day, or don't.

Been to the wall twice: bouldering with the_dom  on Friday, circuits yesterday.

Feeling rather battered now so today is a light day: mobility / stretching / pressups and a walk in the woods with the family.

My circuit project at the wall that I originally thought it was ridiculous/impossible is due to be taken down tomorrow, and I'm close on it, so I might try to fit in a quick early morning attempt on the way to work.

Does standing shivering in the rain for an hour whilst filming for the BBC count? It over-ran considerably stopping me from visiting the new Depot.

It must be so hard being in demand for the media.
According to the BBC Hull is the place to visit in 2016 . Will you be honouring the city of your employment with a visit. ;D
Otherwise session on the board for 90 mins,40 mins weights and 20 mins of theta and and back stretches. Food and alcohol to excess still.

Muechener, I asked about diet stuff because I would find it useful. Habrich put his foot down about the importance of dieting because....he makes a twiglet look obese but also thinks that lettuce in the spawn of satan?? I agree exercise is more the point, but a lot of people are concerned about weight, justifiably or otherwise. I train a fair amount (only 5 days per week before Xmas tho) and am getting heavier not lighter. P.S. Fried thanks for the tips, not the sort of regime that works for me but useful for someone no doubt.

Quote from: Fiend
1 - 0
2 - indoor bouldering + short run

3 - 3 hours Ratho (easy routes, got out of breath on some, according to harness have gained 2" around waist and 1" around legs since October, I doubt this is extra muscular thighs and torso from a few 15 mins deadlifting sessions per week), 15 mins run (grim but better than previous day).

A bit depressed and frustrated with it.

Fair enough, I'm a bit heavy at the moment too and not entirely happy about it. Otoh I think putting on a bit of insulation in the winter is probably natural/normal, and the need to do so might even be cause rather than effect of our culture having a traditional midwinter feast (subsequently borrowed/hijacked by Christianity). [/gratuitous anthropological speculation]

Also: training heavy etc. Now probably isn't the time to be worrying about peak fighting weight. I'm strong by my standards at the moment despite being heavy, and looking forward to being just as strong but 2 or 3kg lighter when Frankenjura season kicks off in earnest in May or so.

1/1 - an hour or so of lugging around and chopping up wood. Playing with axes is fun. Counterbalanced by too much eating and drinking.
2/1 - Beacon for a wall session. Got pumped on the roof circuits. Still too much food although less bad than yesterday. Winding down the holiday celebrations.

3/1 - mix of generic pushups, weights and that sort of thing. My finger feels a bit sore from yesterday, I think I've maybe bruised it somehow but I'm not going to fingerboard on it just in case.

I'm 2 for 2...Depot session New Year's Day, and a 5 mile run today.

Not particularly watching the weight, food or booze intake though, this is more about getting the training habit going again.

Day 3 done today, inspired by the Gym Jones "SMMF" (or Single Movement Mind Fucks).

500 bodyweight squats. Done in 10 sets of 50 while staring at a particularly tedious bit of my kitchen wall.

Took 28 mins so planked for remaining time.

Genuine LOL, I hope you chose the most boring bit of wall to maximise the misery.

Managed 1 hr of cycling to town (5mins), vigorous shopping for girlfriend's bday presents and cycling home (5 mins). Also cycled 3 mins to a café to study and 3 mins home.

Those are some skinny straws I'm clutching...

Might go and do 50 balance-board squats and some theraband in penance.  :spank:

..and remember folks..

Free food has no calories!

I won't break my training/exercise down into a daily analysis, but more importantly, this little lot for 75p from my local Morribunds (unbelievably, rrp was £16.98 :o ):

Traditionally, extra large duvets were created for that sort of "deal"  8)

Is the Premium Scotch Pie "local" or "lo-cal"?

Very good  :P

The pie was a full fat 15p, so I'm gonna count that as lo-cal! However, I cracked, and bought a Christmas pudding for 1 pound, which I shall enjoy with lashings of brandy sauce (which was 5p instead of 2.69!) as just reward for my 1 hour 15 of running and core earlier..

not to mention 3 hours of DIY tonight, removing a cracked basin for the first time, without flooding the house  :icon_beerchug:

Managed 35 mins of circuit work, a trip to Broomgrove wall (fingery traversing) - 2 hours, and a fingerboard session - 35 minutes, yesterday; a hard session on the local boulder - 1 hour, and bar work in the park - 1 hour, on the 1st.
I've been feeling understandably trashed!

I like to keep the wise words of the late and great Wolfgang Gullich ringing in my ears..: "Sometimes I eat so much, I can't breathe!". That's inspiration enough for me  ;D

Good luck with yours, and happy new year  8)

3h + walking around Bangkok mostly weekend market at low speed. Good food and regular beer breaks 3 large bottles plus 2 whiskies as a nightcap.

Still on track - managed to sneak in some quick but tough hotel gym sessions and a hangboard after getting home this morning.

Going to pass today as travelling but 7 days of sport climbing with the unstoppable Paul Reeve will more than compensate

I forgot the link...
http://www.t-nation.com/workouts/fat-loss-4-workout-protocol

That's the sort of thing I find useful. A general regime based on comprehensible principles that can be adapated to suit.

1st day on for me, one meal and T nation's 4 thingy, thanks Nibs. Probably just as well as the elbow is properly burning after pull ups yesterday. There's not enough room on the storage on the forum to put my weight, definitely need to lose some/lots/loads.
PS not had a drink today either - despite the fridge still being full.
