Lost cause. I'm not close enough to have the inside track but My impression is that Chris the filmmaker took overly long to start the editing and went off the boil and then Malc got cold feet about the whole project. I gave up chasing

Maybe the subtitling was taking too long?

Maybe it was filmed on R-Man's tripod?

That's a shame as their other films are really nice.

Ok no worries lets start again.

It doesn't need to be a big thing, just that simple IV like the Shark did with Ben or Gaskins.

Email Malc and ask him again no?

I have kit but London is really far from Dumbarton. If you're prepared to wait I do actually have a plan to visit Scotland next year, it would have to be a tie in.

I was hoping to get away with not mentioning it but at the considerable risk of raising and expectations and disappointing everyone again earlier today I contacted Chris and Malc again. Chris has agreed to forward the raw interview footage for me to have edited then Ill run it by Malc to make sure he is happy and if so put it up on vimeo or youtube.

I've done my best. Please don't give me grief again if it doesn't come off.

Good stuff.

Get in touch if you need a hand though I know I'm not the only editor lurking on UKB.

Whilst I recognise that you've put some considerable effort into making this happen shark, it wouldn't be UKB if we didn't give you some grief in the event of a failure.

This isn't a failure yet!  Victory can yet be snatched from the jaws of defeat.  Give the footage to cowboyhat too.  It'll stop him writing blog posts at least.

My hope is that it'll be even more interesting than "Thoughts on The Oak"

To be fair, I'm not sure that's actually possible.

I'm hoping that next years episode will be filmed inside a tent with an MSR melting snow in the background to give it a more serious mountaineerish atmosphere

I think it would work well in such a setting - especially if shark is skinning rabbits throughout the film - not dropping his steely glaze from the lens #gold
