Northumberland pubs worth a visit

Heading up to Seahouses for a week. Has anyone one got any good pub and or chippy recommendations for the area?

I think gme recommended it to me. Nice walk from Embleton. Expect it to be busy on a weekend / summers day.

The Ship (Low Newton) is an ideal pub for a poncy North Londoner he said, only slightly tongue in cheek.

Other recommendations in the linked thread.

Seahouses has a few pubs and chippies. Not sure which the best chippy is but the olde ship is a great pub, had a few memorable nights in there. The beefeater style place opposite has no atmosphere but views of the harbour and a better bet for quick food with the family.

Chippy in Belford is good. Chippy in Beadnell is OK. Like Jb says the old Ship in seahouses is a decent boozer.

Was over that neck of the woods a few weeks back, Neptune's (I think) in Seahouses did excellent fish and chips, highly recommended. We went to a pub called the White Lion (I think) near Kyloe. Was OK pub tucker.

My memory is rubbish!

Miles away, but the bakers in Rothbury is outstanding. Superb pies.

I've always favoured the chippy further away from the seafront in Seahouses - on the right hand side as you walk away from the harbour. Google maps says it's called Lewis's, but all I can remember was the gingham tablecloths.

You are correct it is Lewis's and very good, if you walk a bit further out the bakers is also great, amazing custard tarts.

I haven't been to these places, but it looks like there is some good info in this article: http://gu.com/p/4b4mx/sbl
