Varazze is a bit of an enigma to me.
It's not bad, but I think it's highly overrated due to being basically the only bigger bouldering spot in that part of Italy, and to having been developed by Cristian Core.
There are many many hard problems, and many sectors, but when I've been there I've always found myself trying the same stuff. The classics are heavily chalked and they have the tendency to squeeze problems into the tightest bits of rock, so sometimes you find yourself playing with eliminates or defined sequences.
The rock is of different quality, it tends to form small holes and even slopers but also razor sharp holds that tend to break. I think it's serpentinite or something.
December can be very cold and humid (there's a river) and also it could easily snow.
I wouldn't go there.
