1. No fan of the Kipeprs.
2. I'm not sure the prog. counts as culture

3. but

did anyone else waych this last night, I kept thinking this is shit, can it get any worse and then found myself saying yes, quite possibly the worst thing I've watched since I was a youth and the p*rn films had black squares in the relevant areas.

I found it, didn't plan to watch it. Having a mid week weekend due to shifts, just watched a movie was too stuffed with pizza to move off the sofa. I was thorughly entertained in a " if this is a mimicry of the uprising of the national socialist party in the early 30s then it's utter wank, the nazis were far brighter than this.. but fuck it it's a Novel take on entertainment companies trying in influance the electorate, i'll carry on watching" sort of an experience.

Be good to see more made of the other parties, might be more shagging and murders...

the trouble is 1. it wasn't (in my view at all funny) the satire was absent, the characterisations 2d at best and it was overtly lower Vith form lefty shit.

The opportunities for the in the thick of it comedy were legion and missed entirely. I really don't think this is appropriate a few months before a general election: at any other time, absolutely but since C4 is subsidised by statute (from memory ITV has to give some of their advertising revenue to C4) this doesn't sit well with me.

That's very valid.

Baseless for sure.

Caveat: I didn't bother watching it.

Much as I'm happy to see the Kippers ridiculed (and god knows it isn't difficult) this a) sounded shit and b) is not appropriate so close to a general election. It looks a bit too much like an attempt to influence people's intentions (though I'm sure it'll make no material difference). For once, Nige actually has a slight right to moan.

What a load of shit. A piece of entirely fictional anti kipper propaganda with no purpose other than to attempt to persuade people at the polls.

Some of it wasn't fiction: e.g. their candidate referring to another UKIP councillor as a ting tong (a racist epithet I'm not familiar with).

But overall it was so poor is was almost compelling.

This also allows UKIP to genuinely say they're maligned and misrepresented when actually they're not, and it's just that they don't like the scrutiny.
