We have a weekly Shakedown Problem set every Friday by a different member of staff each time. The idea is it’s a WOW problem. The first person to complete said problem, and upload their video onto our facebook page, win a free climb.
The Annual Stoke Shakedown is a combination of all these problems and funky WOW ideas and turning it into a 1 day event/competition.
On Saturday 20th September, starting at 10am we will be hosting our first of many annual Shakedowns.
We open from 9:45am, so you can get in, grab a score card and warm up! Competition starts at 10am lasting 4 hours: - 25 Qualifying adult Problems, and 20 problems specific to kids, set by in-house setter Dominic Bridgwood and guest setter James Garden. The Qualifiers finish at 2pm, and while we tote the scores up, climbers can relax with a brew, enjoy some hot food from our Awesome Cafe, try some Slacklining, check out the FREE sports therapy drop in sessions available (kindly performed by final year sports therapy students from North Staffs University) or simply carry on climbing and check out our other Awesome problems. At 3 o’clock the Grand final problems will start. The top 5 climbers from each adult category will battle it out in The Awesome Cave where we will have 5 final problems for both male and female climbers.
Soon after the finals finish we will have a prize giving where we have loads to give away. We have prizes from Cotswolds, Five Ten, Evolv and more! And don’t worry if you don’t place in the top 3; we will be giving out spot prizes to randomly placed competitors as well!
GARY ‘4000’ GIBSON WILL BE DOWN TO GIVE US A GUEST LECTURE AT THE END OF THE FINALS.
You can enjoy his tales with a beverage from our charity bar. We will also have some food available, not to forget cake as well. All that topped off with some great music and some party games, it will make for an AWESOME day (pun intended). Can anyone do the chair challenge?
