Funnily enough, the Robert Johnson club in Frankfurt was named after Robert Johnson the blues musician, who is widely known for having (apparently) sold his soul to the devil....

not fresh - really old school -   :off: but had to post it up as it's the first time I've found Easy D to download on tinternet. A real blast from the past for all who might remember the Palais or CJ's after the limit shut, or BYO at Donni. http://www.yorkshirejunkies.co.uk/music-radio-recordings.php#F, just need to find my vics and I'll be well away.

Quality link.. and it reminds of a top story.  I used to DJ on a pirate station in Sheff around '93/'94 on a Saturday afternoon and Monday evening in a pokey little 'studio' in Hyde Park flats.  One sunny Saturday afternoon I'm playing some tunes and answering the phones when theres this banging at the door; I'm thinking we're getting raided and in waltzes Easy D totally off his tits & chewing his face off with two of his mates who've obviously been out all night and maybe two .. elbows me out of the way and announces it's a mutiny and he's taking over for the afternoon.. starts f'ing and blinding into the mic and queue's up full-on ragga gunshot jungle - brilliant...

Here's a shout out for Fugazi fans. Joe Lally has a solo album:

Boomkat store

Haven't yet heard it but will do soon. Luckily, just found out he's touring in the UK as of today. London is tonight, the rest listed here:

Haven't listened to Burning Airlines in ages, but just stumbled across J Robbins' site. If you haven't heard them, check out Mission:Control. The opening song 'Carnival' is great.

You aint heard DnB untill youve heard the valve sound system.

I've just heard DnB then. That was an amazing rave. Subfocus was sick, Andy C was on fire and Dillinja was cranking it out phat style. Also Jumping Jack Frost was fucking brilliant, even though he was playing in mine, still had the crowd jumping!

These might be good too - Mixes by TC

Shame about the mp3 quality, there's a great remix of Smack My Bitch Up!

incidentally, does anybody know who the original of TC's Love and Happiness (off nightlife 3) was by?

I was unlucky enough to be sent to brighton on a business trip yesterday but as it transpired this coincided with the Bonnie Prince Billy gig also in Brighton. It was a really great gig. He played very strange versions of all the classics, and then the encore was the more traditional sound and ofcourse included the crowd favourite "I see a darkness". Once again, if you haven't heard Will Oldham then either buy it, download it, or go to one of his upcoming shows throughout europe (what's a carbon footprint?).

Also of note is R Kelly's Hip Hopera. I don't know if this has been mentioned before on this thread but I downloaded and listened to all 12 parts lastnight. How much coke and under age sex went into the making of that I have no idea but it was truly inspired in the most horrific yet funny way. It's available on oink or via itunes for those who care. The video to accompany it is also on youtube. Parts 1-5 can be found . Part 6 can be found . Part 7 is . along with , , , , and . Perhaps this should also be posted in the video's thread... be warned. Watching all these will take approximately 40min of your life. It is easily worth it in my opinion.

New Fabriclive by Tayo.  As could be expected, it's right up to Tayo's normal standard with plenty of sweet basslines and his trademark dubby sound.  It includes the Bassbin Twins track "Woppa", which has a fuckin' awesome bassline (if you like that kind of thing).

I also got hold of Dave Clarke - Remixes and Rarities the other day.  A good selection of his best remixes and a few obscure things.  I like this a lot but then Dave Clarke can do little wrong in my eyes.  I even think his remix of Zombie Nation's Kernkraft 400 is brilliant, but then again, I spent far too many nights off my face at Bugged Out when he was resident.  Kinda scarred me for life.

New DNB!

Have been listening to:

Various - Juice Blender

Good pacey nu-skool neuro-funk tech-step. Not too hardcore, not too mashed up, but not too minimal, just straight up techy dnb. If you like stuff like Noisia, Teebee, C4C, new )E|B(, Calyx
 etc, this is well recommended.

Various - DAT Music

Interesting release on Marcus Intallex record label. Two CDs, the second is a fairly minimal and boring, but the first is well good. It's a mixture of smooth mellow tracks with harder hitting ones (which are a bit like the mellow ones with slight hint of Dillinja or Calyx mixed in!), but works well together, and all of them have a pretty phat and weighty sound. Again well recommended.
