Not for everyone, sure, but I'm getting to really like the Jap band Boris.  Their records are hard to find but probably worth looking (especially if you like The Melvins).

Boris are really quite an eye opener ... here's my post on this very thread from earlier this year

"Boris; Akuma No Uta: I was expecting some japanese version of dark Sun 0>>> drone metal but was pleasantly surprised to find a great mix of Earth type stoner rock with Lazy Cowgirls/The Dwarves garage punk-rock - quite brilliant if that kind of thing floats your boat.  Plus the cover is a funny rip-off of Nick Drake's Bryter Layter which is intriguing in itself."

boris!

anyway, i'm on fire mixwise today, have another: http://www.edpetersen.plus.com/Ed_P_%20050906.mp3 starts off smooth, fortunately digs a bit deeper as it gets going, oh and the beats match, for those that care for seamlessness

(Ooops.  Soz U-ground.  Embarrassed face for not reading every post on these 60 (count 'em) pages!)

Anyone got time for Keiji Haino/Fushitsusha?  Fushitsusha live.  Stopped buying Fushitsusha some time back but I really enjoy Hainos' "I said, I am the son of nihilism."  On Table of Elements.

Eeeeee the Jap are fascinating!

RUINS - Burning Stone.

It's the only one I have & I'm 100% satisfied with it.  Especially the track Praha in Spring.   Saw them live a year ago.  Grand they were.

Some tracks can be streamed here.  Don't click if you don't like the idea of a bass & drum duo with somewhat falsetto singing.

I've done a quick search and I cant find anyone recommending Pendulum.

Totally awesome D&B, I saw them at Global Gathering last year. Their album "Hold your colour" is fantastic.

Get it. Its strangely, sorta inspiring music. It is very very good.

I have issues with their vast chiming clock collection, especially at midnight...  They have issues with my Merzbow collection...  Nothing too bad.

What don't you like about Mclusky? (RIP)

Albini is one of the more interesting men in rock IMO.

I like Mclusky lyrically more than musically, especially tracks like Without MSG I am Nothing ("You're the only one with no trousers on / your add-ic-tion.")

Yes, some people wear their influences too openly.  Vis-a-vis Albini/Shellac influences:  Checkout Technician  The influence is manifest.  Yet I like them for the KLANG!

As for differences in opinion etc..  That's what makes life interesting, non?

Check J Rawls - The Liquid Project. Super top vibes, hip hoppy jazzy instrumental.

check out the new mix on www.mountainrescueradio.com

shameless plug for a friend, but I listened to it first thing this morning and it made my serious lack of sleep disappear off into the background. Enjoy.

Underground.  I spotted the numerical mistake earlier but was timed out on changing it and thought it would be witty to leave it be.
