I really should study track listings more - had completely missed that! The only Fennesz I own is the Venice album - will have to dig that out and listen to it again now that I have been reminded of it. Any tips on his other works from those in the know?

Venice is ok but I much prefer Endless Summer. Field Recordings 199whenever-200whenever is also quite good, but Endless Summer is the best by far!

Another vote for Endless Summer from me. It's his pop album and certainly the most accesible. There's another that's good with Mika Vaino but it's more of a noise/doom/merzbow thing and a bit of a challenge.

The Magic Sound of Fenn O'Berg is also a very nice album, the first time I heard Shinjuku Baby pt. 1 I was amazed, I love the xylophone loops they use!

If you know the original, you'll hear a difference. The remastered demos are markedly different, well worth a listen (disc 3 on the collector's edition).

Blimey, I thought I was archaic for actually purchasing CDs, at least I have the decency to order them online.

On the subject of which, those after soulful, upbeat and pretty well produced (if annoyingly slightly above tempo) DnB in a vaguely Big Bud styleee could do a lot worse than this.

Also tonight - been absorbing a pre-release of what turns out to be quite a stunning new work by Benn Jordan (aka The flashbulb among other things) which is a rather splendid, lush fingerpicked guitar epic with some lovely instrumental sweeps and overlaid bits of production; apparently a single piece, divided into 4 tracks for the release. Not at all what I had expected from a somewhat eclectic purveyor of electronica; and all the better for it - a wonderfully diverse talent giving rise to a beautiful soundscape....
