Discovered Ubran Gorilla have a few live mixes and DJ sets available here.

Some better than others, and whether they're Funky and f-f-f-f-f-ffffresh enough will be a matter of taste but they're all free.

Wish I'd got more NY Sushi CDs from yesteryears  :'(

WORD! NY-Sushi was awesome, never had a bad night at the Unit or a Big-Bang event.
I went for the DnB but always made a point of going downstairs for a dip in the Breaks+Techno room... Happy daze

Things that have got me excited recently:

Techno from a few years back:
Joey Beltram - Live @ Womb

I always remember Joey Beltram for an interview he did in the Eternity rave magazine many years back, in which this techno purist soundly dissed and dismissed the upcoming sounds of hardcore and gabber (incidentally I got a good laugh out of John Peel subsequently playing one of JB's tracks at the - unsurprising - wrong speed, thus sounding somewhat like gabber itself). So he's piqued my curiosity and this CD satisfies it rather - high octane party techno with some good clubby tracks and some good darker ones.

Drum'n'bass from a few weeks in the future:
Break - Symmetry

Break is the sound of proper pure DnB - deep, bassy, well-produced phat phlavas with no superfluous bullshit. The above page has the LP samples, there's a mix CD of the album due on the 24th. Can't wait.

For those fans of electronica:

Quality Icelandic electronica/drum & bass from such names as Ruxpin (of Covert Operations fame), Biogen, Skurken and Plastik. Best of all it's free!

Wasn't really sure where to put this but it's a bit music-y so here goes. Just been discussing the grumpy genius of Tom Paulin on Late Review in the mid-late '90s, just found this clip of them reviewing REM's 'New Adventures...'

Worth a watch for Tony Parsons calling Micheal Stipe a 'pretentious wanker', but even better Tom Paulin's comparison of the album to condensed soup, his eye-rolling dismissal of both REM and Oasis' lyrics and to top it off his description of Micheal Stipe's voice as 'fake Dylan'. Class.

That's great - love to see both REM and Oasis getting shown for the overrated shite they are :)

Holy FILTH, Batman!

C4C have never really impressed me, minimal and entirely unmemorable techstep-by-numbers characterising most of their many releases. But with this album they've dropped a fine, relentless slab of rollin' neuro-funk dirt, in fact I'd even say they've outdone Noisia on that front. Ordered.

Word to that Fiend. According to Andi_enumbers they are playing in Leeds in January. Should be good. :dance1: Incidentaly, it was a awesome free Mixmag cd with one of their tracks (Moongerm) on that got me into DnB. It was the training soundtrack back in 2003.

Mary Anne Hobbs last night had a great mix from N-Type - first hour was like old skool d&b, I thought I was listening to an old rave tape. Quality. Listen again folks....

WADDAGE!! Great mix, takes me back.
Is there anyway I can record this? It would make for a great training soundtrack.
