I'll post a review in a sec which explains quite well, but for me this has been one of those 'sit up and listen again' finds, which surprised and pleased me in equal measure.

It's had me reaching for the Ozric Tentacles CDs, as well as some very happy memories of the smell of the fine timber and polish of my uncle's record cabinet as, aged about 8, I immersed myself in Ammonia Avenue and Stereotomy by the Alan Parsons Project....

I really do like the work of the Finn Tuomas Rantanen, more so as there are very few quality producers working at the extreme end of techno.  Rantanen is one such guy, he releases bugger all; what he does put out is stella, I think.

Spanking new studio mix from Ed Rush and Optical, this is some of the best filth I've heard from them since a decade ago when they were making stuff like The Raven and To Shape The Future.

Time for something a little different (though anything by Toumas Rantanen is always welcome) - drones by a scottish guy called erstlaub - has a great album out at the minute called On Becoming An Island and also a live set from late last year here erstlaub live set.

Another earlier work here called blown.

Enjoy and expect some more non-techno recommendations very soon.
