A darkish techno mix from Hybrid that I quite like (on first listening anyway) available to download as a torrent.

Found this on http://www.hybridized.org/ which seems to have quite a few torrents/mixes hosted from various artists.  Will be keeping an eye on it and 'leeching' mixes over time (as soon as I get a new 500Gb HD to store all my crap on!).

Today it's been a little minimal, a touch glitchy, and darkly atmospheric.

First up and highly recommended, is I'd never heard of this guy till someone handed me the album 'Parabolica', but I'm glad I have.

Next up, on the strength of both albums receiving 5 star reviews in the Observer, is Burial, the eponymous album and new one 'Unreal'. I think I like these, but a few listens will be required. Worth checking out though, I just can't quite get with the pitched up garagey style vocals....

I have recently been listening to "Boxer" by The National which I have been liking. It reminds be a bit of Tindersticks. Worth checking out in my opinion.

Hey guys. I've just started getting into this "electronic dance music" thing. I found some well wacky stuff that doesn't have any singing or guitars or anything, it just has a load of bleeps and beats. What was the name of it?? Technical? Or something? Errr... "Techno", that was it!

I listened to some of this and decided I really rather liked it and better buy some, just in case.

Nothing to do with the fact there's a track called 'Fiend and Friend' on side 2?  :-\

Found this website the other day while looking for Sam Shalabi's first album - might be of interest to some of the people here as it specialises in techno\electronica etc: http://tinyurl.com/2bg7hw  - the sad news is that they are closing next year but at least you get 70% off most things (you do have to spend more than a £10 though).

Talking of Sam Shalabi been listening to Shalabi Effects Pink Abyss album which is rather good - http://tinyurl.com/ypwa89 - track 2 is rather excellent to say the least - the rest of the album not bad either.

Quick update on the "fillers" I ordered from small fish - Quick update on the "fillers" I ordered from smallfish.co.uk - Celestion: http://tinyurl.com/2yrsb8 and Solitude: http://tinyurl.com/yu8ybq by Remote_.

Celestion is a really stripped back minimalist techno sort of track that just noodles along in the background in a really brilliant way whereas Solitude is similar but has a bit more of drone thing going on and as an added bonus the packaging is superbly minimalist as well - art and good music all wrapped up in one little package - get in there!

PS - if someone can explain how I can have a word act as a clicky interweb linky thing then I will gladly award a wad point to them - be warned that you will probably have to earn the wad point as I have the potential to be Grade A stupid...

When you click on the hyperlink button it inserts [url ][/url] (without the space after the first url which I've put there so that it doesn't appear as a proper link), and you are putting the URL (the http://whatever/) in between the two sets of brackets, something like [url ]http://whatever[/url] (again ignoring the space after the first url).

If you want a word to appear instead then all you do is place the URL inside the first set of brackets like...

[ url=http://whatever ]somewhere[/url]

although obviously you would need to remove the spaces that are in the first set of brackets so that it does actually appear as a link.

You mean Clicks and Cuts?

That Audio Assault shit is the shit.

You're onto a winner with Exium (is that the 1st hyperlink - all got a bit confucius there?).  Exium are a spanish duo www.exium-music.com and they've been mining and evolving the Birmingham sound for some time now.  Real Spanish techno = forward thinking cutting edge stuff.  Often, it's ultra dark and frightening.

Just listening to the Holy Fuck LP. At last! Just what I've been waiting for to post on this thread - the techno-krautrock crossover!

Superb.

Quote from: 'NME'
Holy Fuck make a noise as abrasive as it is awesome ... these dark disco droogs thread every sound under the sun through their electric playground of wires. They come on like the nastiest electronic band since Suicide, or like the The Fall reworking their brains with screwdrivers, or Add N to (X) playing speed metal.

edit: props to soapy for recommending these 40 pages back.

If you are using Firefox, there's a handy extension called BBcode which means you can just copy the link, highlight the text you want to link to it, right click to a menu and voila. Whilst you're at it add All-in-one gestures so you can blow Cofe's mind with mouse flicks.
