Last few techno links have been really good! Thanks very much guys! Rekindled my interest in techno. Interesting to see many of the same names from a few years ago still up there.

It may have been posted before sorry if it has -  I know breaksblog.biz has been mentioned, but this Makoto mix from their site (Good Looking style Drum and Bass) is outstanding. Big tunes on their way from Japan!

On a completely different tip, have just got hold of slayer reign in blood again. My mind is blown, perhaps one of the best thrash albums of all time?
Am downloading south of heaven as I write, another classic

:agree: it is and always will be the definitive thrash album.  The drumming is amazing.  I may have to go and dig all the old CD's out of the loft and give them a fresh airing after all these years.

Never was a big fan of Slayer despite their status.

Can I propose Pantera's Cowboys From Hell as the best thrash album in the world ever by some way, please??

Picked up a copy of Manitoba's second album Up in Flames at lunch time for a few squid and am quite enjoying it.  Its in a similar vein to some of Four Tet's stuff, so if you like that you'll probably get on okay with this...

On the thrash front...

Cowboy's From Hell was a class album (as was Vulgar and Far Beyond), but I always felt that Pantera were a bit slow in places, for example Walk off of Vulgar whilst a nice heavy grinding tune was just a bit slow.

Besides, Pantera loose points in the thrash band steaks for starting off as a glam band....

(Phil Anselmo is the second from left!!!)

I think its been mentioned in this thread somewhere already, but checkout Down for some seriously heavy/funky shit.

It's been a while, but I have just found this mix and think it's rather good.

Italoboyz - Kama Kama

even includes a cooking lesson in Swedish.

the new radiohead album is actually quite good. avoids the mediocrity of some of the recent albums.

in terms of the 'pay what you think it's worth' thing - surely you can only do that after listening to it?

The new Kanye album is very poor IMO. I thought Late Registration was worse than College Dropout, and this one is worse still - it's even got Chris Martin on ruining a song that was actually quite good originally, Home.

has anyone mentioned klute / the emperor's new clothes?

if not it's very good. i find a late night drive back from london provides a challenging and worthwhile test for bleepy music.

the mwaap mwaap factor was admirably high, and the volume went up and up as i ploughed southwards. and i don't think i skipped any tracks, which might be a first.

Studio - West Coast

Nu Swede Balearic Punk Pop would be one way of putting it.  Very fucking good would be another. My top recommendation of the week...

UKB strikes again.... thanks Yoss I am liking this very much.  Shame it didn't come out in June it as it would have been nice lounging in the sun with cold beer after a dip in the sea.

OK.  I've plugged nEiL_M_ (Neil Mallory) on here before, this is the last time I shall do so, those interested may wish to visit Digital Distortions and keep themselves informed.

nEiL_M_ - Dead Without Lies.  Close to two hours of electronic brilliance, this could be the best mix I've heard.  A slow burner:  takes some time to get going, nothing is rushed.

Perfect for when everyone in the house is fast-on, and it's just you left with The Nightshift.

Nothing funky on this one but still fresh nevertheless...

Gettin Gone - MV/EE

Matt Valetine and Erika Elder (MV/EE) have ploughed their own furrow through the Americana/psychadelic/frontier folk underground for the last decade with a huge number of very limited CD-R's and vinyl on their Child Of the Microtones imprint.  This new album on Thurston Moores Ecstatic Peace label sees them almost striking out into electric rock territory with J Mascis supplying electric guitar and John Moloney of Sunburned Hand of the Man on drums.  Mighty fine indeed...

To even up the hip hop scales, a couple of DJ Premier produced bangers

NYG'z single, assume it won't be making it onto Radio 1 any time soon, new album is meant to be amazing

Primo cut from earlier this year featuring "all turd" Kanye among a selection of other heavy hitters

A useful list for any big primo fans
