As for the Pixies...  I was in love with the covergirl on Surfa Rosa for years...

She was quite a lady; the ultimate dark haired gypsy women of my dreams!

living in my trash media free zone i have only just come across jamie t. apparently he's been all over the radio recently. i hope he doesn't become too famous because then i'll look like a bit of a tit playing sheila at every bbq i have this summer...

I hated Jamie T when i first heard it but it's so grown on me - listening to the album, Panic Prevention all the time at the moment.

i think he's a cool guy. plan b on the other hand has started to grate a little. and i bought the skinnyman album around the same time, and that's got pretty irritating too...

Another vote for Chris Thile here...

he was in Nickel Creek, the new album 'how to grow a woman from the ground' is considerably less saccharine, in fact its well brown. If nothing else, check out the cover of The Strokes' Heart in a Cage. Dynamite.

Have also been listening to Neu! again. Exceptional.

DJ Kicks is probably my least favourite of the Artist/DJ Compilations, but that looks quite good.

I'm kind of with you there Chris, but have you not heard the Daddy G mix from last year?  Well worth checking out and leagues ahead of most of the DJ Kicks stuff.

And on a mixed CD tip, the new Solid Steel DJ Food and DK mix is pretty fuckin' brilliant.  Probably the best Solid Steel mix I've heard and full of mix trickery, sampling and interesting stuff across the genres but generally hiphop, DnB (ish) and other good music that I can't describe because I'm a fuckwit.

Will checkit, I really like Now Listen.

While on the subject, what's the deal with Now Listen Again? Seems to have little in common with the original Now Listen regarding track listing.

This is very good indeed.

There is also a triptych 2 promo mix by Fred D  which is nice too.

You've gotta be in the mood I think, I played it to a mate tonight who loved it. I reckon you've been put off by the Smiths cover, I'm guessing your a Smiths fan? I've loved every track, really different and good, I guess thats the beauty of human opinion!

The Hot Chip - DJ Kicks tip off was alright, but a little dissapointing. There were some tracks that outshone the rest, and some that didn't belong at all in my opinion (eg. Marek Bois!). However, I didn't come hear to solely criticise, I offer you Grovesnor - Metrosexual. It's actually a spin off from hot chip which you'll no doubt realise in the first few seconds. To those who have the DJ Kicks Hot Chip album, this is the album from the artist who does the opening track, nitemoves! enjoy.

And staying on the Hot Chip theme...

Matthew Dear has done a remix of No Fit State. Available as an E.P - here, countless other record stores and through numerous other digitised channels. Seminal.

I'm loving the Dinosaur Jr comeback at the moment:

I feel like I've been transported back in time - only I swear it sounds better this time around. Been there all the time is just soooooo good, it hurts!

Hello. One for the soapy / Houdini clan, I suspect:

Can someone recommend me some good, fairly modern, Scandinavian-style bleak dancefloor techno CDs, please. In the vein of Hertz, Adam Beyer, Hardcell & Grindvik etc etc - you know the stuff. Something I can check out on Juno first would be ideal.

Ta!

Fans of Converge and Isis, Pelican (who were awesome the other day in Leeds) and the suchlike might like Supermachiner, Converge's ambient rock side-project.

I never thought this fellow would be able to recommend me any music:

However, it was when I was browsing fat-pie.com I noticed this:

The music is by Loom, and I'm pretty sure you can download his entire latest album for free here. Definately recommeded for any fans of Boards Of Canada, Casino Vs Japan, Boom Bip etc.

Loom: nice and chilled, sounds good. Best thing though, it's free!

Just found a youtube of Lambchop's Up With People. Brilliant summer music.

Downloadable live version here, though I think I prefer the above.
