Won't there be the obligatory driving to the crag lake/pond scene? ;)

the big question will the fish be graded using metric or imperial w&m?

Pounds and ounces has been the mainstay of match weight bags over the years. I'm so insanely psyched for this.

They seem to get weighed in pounds and ounces but measured in Centimeters.

I might be keen if the date fits. Cant commit until close to the day though.

Fished matches all of my youth, had a bit of a spell when the kids were young and i wasn't climbing, fished matches at Loxley, Kiverton and on the Don, wear and tyne. Prefer the rivers/silvers as thats what i grew up on.

Now fish with my youngest but more sea and fluff chucking.

Still got all the stupid amount of poles/rods/boxes of shite that you "need" to do it though.

I bought all new stuff 8-9 years ago and as i was now working and had disposable income did the classic kid in the sweet shop and bought a lot of good stuff. All the stuff i dreamed about as a youth but couldnt afford.

Lets just say I wont turn up looking like Isaac Walton.

Match fishing is without doubt the most expensive hobby in the UK. I have seen guys turning up with 10k+ worth of gear in the back of a beat up £500 car. In my experience golf is a lot cheaper.

And a lot shitter. BTW I was browsing a golf mag waiting in canteen waiting for microwave, Donald Trumps' course up here costs £200 a round for a visitor! That could buy you a half week fishing the Dee from Balmoral Estate.

Glad to hear more interest yall. Next step, mooting a venue and date! Loxley sounds good since we could have the lake to ourselves for a match and only pay for the pegs taken. Shame if some have fished it in a way but that's life.

I'd be psyched for slamming the silvers on a canal since that's my strongest game. Size 28 hooks, bloodworm, 4oz lines etc. Sure a commercial would make the most sense though?

Old Bob Nudd canal video for a bit of psyche. Needs the intro music remixing to be more akin to The Real Thing in my eyes if they were looking to get others fuelled..

To save this becoming a pipe dream, shall we put a date in the diary to aim for? Fatneck, I'll let you date moot on my behalf since you have far more life commitments than I.

Revised list of people to confirm/give a % as to likely attendance if day pass required from significant other:

Fatneck
Willackers
Dave J
James Malloch
Johnny Brown
Scouse D
Nai
Gme
Monolith

A team fit for conquering the Division One Nationals.

Await your responses with baited (ahem) breath.

I'd be keen if it were local to Sheffield.
Thanks for biggin me up lads, but if it ain't a water i know I'm a punter.

There's no reason why we couldn't gravitate that way Scouse. It would be nice if it was a venue alien to us all as Chris points out. Shall we stick you on the list then Nudd? ; )

Who's running the book on this?

Fried, are you keen mate?

I'm more of a punter in all senses ;)

Rolling news coverage and a sweepstake wouldn't go amiss though!

Sweepstake we can do. I absolutely cannot wait!

Perhaps we can finally start filming The Reel Thing as well Will? Still up for picking me up topless from the office?
[/quote

For sure, how else are we going to start the film?, that followed by playing some monster carp with our tops off and pounding techno in the background.

Can you also have monolith welding a keep net frame a la jerry, and you Will maybe wielding a sledge to make a spinner? "Thirty seconds from my house to forge dam!"

I could do it after mid June (exams finish around then). Just need a bit of notice to get a shift off work.

Nige, that's dynamite. I can just picture Will twatting all hell out of a piece of Sheffield steel making a revolutionary new carp spinner.

This is getting better and better. Maybe we could get someone professional to film it?, do a proper job on it. After the forge dam scene we all sack it to some big carp fishery in France and catch some whoppers.

28th and 29th of June are a no go for me, I'll be on my hands and knees in a field in Glastonbury trying to find my soul. Apart from that I'm good, pretty free most weekends.

Go on Bob!  His cap is so white, it shines.

Loxley is a great little fishery but gets very busy at the weekends. They usually have a match on at least one day every weekend, especially throughout the summer months. They might let us match up a bank or a few pegs if we were to ask.

I reckon Loxley is a decent shout Will, would you be prepared to have a word given you've a fair bit of experience of fishing there? Happy to ask the questions if not...

"Hello, this is the UKBAC. Can we book 10 pegs please...?"

In terms dates, would the first or second weekend in July 5th/6th - 12th/13th be any good for people?

Would give some time for some western raiders practice sessions ;)

Loxley is a nice venue but really peggy. If you book it miss out the first bank (1-10) as if pegs 1-2 or 8-9 are in it's a forgone conclusion.

This was a few years ago mind and might have changed.

some pegs are significantly better than others to the point where angling skill becomes less important than the luck of the draw

Are you trying to tell me fishing isn't the lazy man's scrittle climbing anyway? :)

I'm glad it's easier for me to walk 10 min down to the coast to catch fuck all rather than pay to go to a pond and worry about if I've got a lucky peg.

Well put but I think to a certain extent wherever you go will have hotspots and shitholes etc...

I drew a stinker in a match the other week and still managed a section win... #lookatme
