Indeed. This is one I tried in Goteborg, not normally a lager drinker but this was darker and nice rich flavours:

at the weekend - very, very nice.

The Einstock porter is really good too - they sell it in the Ilkley Booths - well worth stopping off for on the road to Malham.  Another recent addition is the Ampleforth - Abbey beer,  brewed by Benedictine Yorkshire monks in the style of a Belgian Dubbel (like Westmalle, Chimay "Red" etc)

I saw a brief documentary on look north about that shit. Is it any good? I was slightly deterred by the price.

Not actually tried my bottles yet, though I have high hope, the monks were assisted by the brewer from Anglo-Dutch who knows how to make a good beer.  Btw, "deterred by the price"?  Where have you been looking ? It's only £2.49 in Booths, okay not cheap compared to a slab of Carling but it is 7%abv and the monks guarantee that drinking it absolves you of sin!

Oh really? I'd seen it online at £3.50+ for a 330ml bottle somewhere. Is that for a 330 or 500?

Went to the Nottingham beer festival the other weekend. Amazing fun and had some quality beers. Unfortunately I can't quite remember which ones I had...  :beer2: :pissed: :alky:

Also went to the Kelham Island Tavern last night, thoroughly enjoyed it, well kept ales at extremely good prices. No wonder it's in favour with Camra members and awards!

You lucky man - Meantime's London Porter and Pale Ale are lovely.  I like the way they explore the brewing heritage of the country - hunting out and improving on old recipes.  They do some top stuff for M&S too.

I mentioned Acer a while ago - amazing hoppy tang esp for its relatively low strength - they've now managed to bottle it:

I'm also currently being mighty impressed by Independence - fantastic American IPA that smells incredible!

Don't suppose they're easily available up north, but they do deliver

I've not managed to sample it on tap, but suffice to say, if you ever see anything by these guys, buy it.

I was lucky enough to go the "The Hanging Bat" on the Lothian road in Edinburgh and have
Marble - Earl Grey IPA This is a really beautifully crafted beer and I wouldn't have said it was 6.8% from the taste of it. If you see it, drink it. Drink as much as you can :icon_beerchug:
I also had some Adnams, Barrel Aged Broadside which was amazeballs, and you wouldn't have thought it was a beer.

secondary to this - if any UkBers are in the smoke in the vicinity of Greenwich i highly recommend this tour, its fairly interesting, and you do get quite a lot of beer. Their Yakima Red is bloody stunning.

Had some of this last night.

It was very good and tasted exactly as described on the label.
Haven't heard of the brewery before but I'd be keen to try some more of their beers after this

Was in the Cremorne yesterday and they said the next beer to go on (probs today or tomorrow) will be Pictish Brewery Blue Moon. Its beyond belief. Get down if you can. They said that when they put it on in The Sheaf it goes in 4 hours.
