Hook Norton Brewery's Double Stout is pretty fantastic, very nice smooth rich taste. You can get it from the Three Stags Head pub near the turning off to litton on the road from calver, well worth a trip in, a proper pub!

Andy, I'm convinced its fairly new as I have passed there quite a few times and have never noticed it until about a month ago (although I could be completely wrong). I can however report they stock some nice brews and will be going again soon.

Not a recommendation, but heard about this on the radio today and thought it was quite amusing.

I've actually used that in my teaching (the ad, not the beer itself).

I wish I hadn't clicked on the ship in a bottle link... I can foresee vast unnecessary spending in the near future!

for any Leeds folk or Leeds bound folk; North Bar (on North Street, conveniently literally spitting distance from my new office window) is currently celebrating their 15th Birthday with a whole bunch of specially commissioned brews from local breweries. I sampled a couple of pints of the Rooster's North Pale last night and very nice it was too.

Had a pint of this one off (I think) from the Nag's Head at Bradfield after riding there this lunchtime.
I thought Blonde was my favourite Bradfield beer, but this is even better.
Described as "a pale coloured fruity ale with a burst of summer flavours" and tastes just like that. Sort of a "fruity blonde" if you can imagine that

Just had a bottle of York Brewery - Micklegate (Limited edition)- abv 6.1 per cent
WOW...
Described by them as "A bottled conditioned -Tawny red ale. Fruity and floral with a distinctive hop aroma and flavour which is robust and very satisfying"
I'd say wow, I want more but can't get any

Had a couple of the pale ale that these guys do:
http://einstokbeer.com/home.html
at the weekend - very, very nice.
If you like American style hoppy pale, this is good too:
