keeping it real........ ales that is! (Read 228789 times)

I went round wentworth brewery a few years ago with work. It only cost a fiver back then! was very good. Ramp Griph is OK but not my favourite (tastes a bit too much like smoked cheese for me). I greatly prefer the Oatmeal Stout, and WPA and bumblebeer is also well fine - basically its all good, enjoy.

I love smoked cheese so this stuff should be good. The WPA and bumblebee are lovelly pints. Always on in the local.  :great:

Heads up for all you ale drinkers.

Seasonal Beer Festival at the Commercial in Chapeltown, Sheffield. Started yesterday concludes Sunday.

Does proper pub grub too and the hot roast pork sarnies (usually) come out about 10:30pm on a Saturday night.

The Ale's not bad either.

Shit on a stick, did I forget to mention the awesome Bonfire Toffee beer I had down the Lescar in this thread?? A shocking omission. Not sure the brewery nor where else you might find it but suffice to say it was truly different and delicious - smooth, warming, and very smokey

Went to the black swann in Fearby on the way back from Slipstones. The best pint of Black Sheep I have ever had!!!

Other personal favorites are Golden Goose (from Goose Eye brewery), which is sometimes on tap at the Hunter's near Almscliff.
The best bottled beer has to be Innis and Gunn, although getting pissed on it can make you feel pretty ill.

Had a pint of Viking Bitter from Rudgate Brewery last weekend. I think it's a York brewery, but I've only seen it served in one pub (New Inn in Burnt Yates - on the back road between Knaresborough and Brimham). Well worth it if you're in the area.

Also, the White Bear in Masham deserves a mention for it's Black Sheep.

And they sell it in Asda for £1.50 a bottle!

I'm currently hooked on Thornbridge Brewery's Jaipur and Kipling, available from Waitrose. The former is most definitely not a 'session' ale.

Just been out in town and happened on a bit of this - Schlenkerla smoked beer from Germany.

Crazy stuff, smells like smoked bacon, tastes like beer...available in the Old House in Division Street for the Sheffield heads.

Liking the sound of the Champagne Christmas Ale and that smoked shizzle, think I've had that before maybe.

Had a few of these in the sheaf last night and very good it was too - really sharp crisp taste to it - a bit like the wine of a similar name.

It does seem to cause a rather nasty hangover though...  :(

Me too - I only had 3 and feel quite the worse for it.
It does taste good tho - sharp and with a citrus tang to it
