Check out this New website from Bruce Jardine www.nwbouldering.co.uk loads of bouldering topos for the North West of England and other info. This site is NEW and heavily under construction and is changing almost daily so keep checking it out as there will be lots more topos coming in the next few weeks.

Nice one - here's a clickable link www.nwbouldering.co.uk

Do you think Bruce will want to swap links?

Dear Mr Yorkshiregrit,
Thats my doing I`d have to say, I know I should of asked, but its such a fine picture of a great problem, I thought it deserved to live with the appropriate topo. If you want Bruce to take it off I will ask him to. I did give Bruce the relevent picture details but I don`t think he put them on.

Greg

PS. To be fair Thorn Crag shouldn`t be on your site anyway as it is in Lancashire after all!

I've e-mailed Bruce already.  I don't mind people using my photos as long as they ask first and they're properly credited to me.  Shame the photo is spolied by the ugly climber!

As for Thorn Crag being in Lancashire - it's too good to be a Lancashire crag, so for the good of everyone I've claimed it for Yorkshire!

I particularly liked the picture of Bad Moon Rising, which was in no way spoilt by the climber - quite the opposite in fact, whoever he is he's absolutely gorgeous.

Btw if that problem is in Yorkshire I'll slit my wrists...

While I remember...

I discussed with Bruce the possibility of having a "Problem of the Month" type feature, where a classic problem from the NW is the subject of an essay/article and nice photo/photo sequence/video. If anyone has climbed up there and wants to write about a problem then it would probably be helpful, otherwise it'll just be me and Greg! I reckon Andy Robinson will bag Mothership Reconnection, any other takers?

I take issue sir, with anyone who claims Thorn Crag as the property of Yorkshire! And I would be happy to start a War of the Roses over such a claim...Sir!!

Is the site also going to cover south lancashire in a bit more detail? I.e. more than the polished hell that is brownstones. I've got info on a few esoteric gems if you want......

Well South Lancashire doesn't fall into my area of expertise I'm afraid so any info won't come from me. Obviously Bruce expects to have stuff for this neck of the woods as there are links to these areas on the site, he probably just hasn't got any topos/pictures/anything else yet. Carnforth and South Lakes was like this aswell until Greg generously volunteered his topos and some pictures.

So yeah I reckon your valuable local knowledge of the area will be appreciated. I'd be really interested actually; do you think you could send me an e-mail with the lowdown? Cheers. I'll forward it to Bruce for the site, or you can send it him direct aswell.

Great site greg - particularly like the photo of bad moon rising. Looks like a perfect day and the morrisons bag adds a nice touch of gritty northern realism.
Whwn When When can I get some mad rock shoes - you showed me some at cola & i want some bad bad bad. Free would be good.

Yeah I refuse to be photo'd without some evidence of Northern-ness, usually a Morrison's bag it has to be said. It was a perfect day, but then they always are at Thorn Crag.

Anyway, this was just to say that the site is actually Bruce Jardine's so its him you should be complimenting, although Greg has put in loads of work on the topo/posing for pictures/climbing new problems front...
