Went in March, was cold wind due to time of year but catching sun, I guess it would be a bit on the warm side in August temps though.

We tried and failed to stay at the hostel type place in organya (we were too late even by euro standards), it's just past the square (heading back towards tres ponts) numbers on a sign in the window. building was red in colour?

someone please write a better response, I hate work

Hey Mark,

Some days in March/April are too hot so I'd imagine way too hot in August.

Bielsa? or Briancon are good bets in August.

We had 3 days there in July last year.two days were 36 degrees and way too hot to climb hard, but one day there was a storm early on and the temps dropped so we got lucky with a day of perfect conditions. Having said that, Catalunya is experiencing the same cold weather this year as the UK so you might be ok if it continues. I am currently at Siurana and I was wearing a thermal and down jacket yesterday which is pretty crazy for June.

We stayed at a campsite just up the road at Organya. I just tried to find the website for you and the link no longer works so I don't know if it's still there or not.

Thanks for the responses - looks like Tres Ponts is a no goer for August! Where is Bielsa as never heard of it. We went to Briancon for a few years many years ago - has there been much new development and which are the best crags for summer?

Bielsa is nth east of Rodellar...up high. I've not been but we may end up there in August if not around Briancon.

http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=15724  doesn't tell you much I know.

As for Briancon they seem to bring a new guide out every year to keep up with pace of development.
We visited new nth facing crags at 1800m that have only recently been developed.

If you haven't been to any of these they will keep you busy;

http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=12402

http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=12404

Generally conditions were very good on these crags.

Rue de Masque has plenty to offer but perhaps not everyones cup of tea

If you mountain bike then the marked trails are ace & there's loads of lift assisted stuff for the lazy ;)

La Balme (Nth Facing) is a couple of hours away & also very good but harder to get in condition

Does anyone has a number to this establishment? It's on the corner near by the square.

Other cheap places close to Oliana?

Nevermind, I found their webpage http://calrafelo.com by doing a virtual tour of Organya on google street view and reading it of a poster.

Having been back to Organya we stayed at the local municipal hostel, as you're leaving organya take the steep right hand turn and follow it up the hill for a 100m on the right you'll see the big council building. Quite cheap dormitory style with good showers. abarro also stayed there and can probably give better directions....

I'd say your directions were spot on, though worth noting that they're for leaving the village heading south.. Had weird reception hours, but they seemed friendly and was nice place

We decided to book the other one (http://calrafelo.com). 150€ for two people 7 nights including heating, showers and a kitchen.
