Compression training
April 24, 2013, 12:10:20 am
Advice on training compression both arms and getting good clamping force through the legs/heels.
What do you guys do from home? Want to try improve my weakness which is this especially having rubbish heel/leg clamping abilities.

Any advice appreciated!

Most of my compression weaknesses came from my core not arms/legs.. Planks, side and front helped me on this..

If you think about the forces applied through your upper body when your clamping it activates the chest muscles in the way that dumbell flies and pressups do.  So, dumbell flies and pressups with varying width arms.

Climb more compression problems...

...or get another fridge. That way the missus won't get jealous as you'll both have a fridge to hug  ;)

I tried using one of these for a while.

I did various exercises in between fingerboard hangs, trying to hold the ends as close to my fingertips as possible. I think it helped. But I was starting from a pretty rubbish base level - always found gritstone - sorry, I mean clamping - difficult.

Quality, glad to see you can still get those things, my brother had one when he was about 13.

didn't Charles Atlas do some compression style exercises? these could be done anywhere (no equipment) - eg under fingerboard, in kitchen, in shower, on the train

might not do what you want to, but you'll look good
