yes, I agree, sounds like the alloys to me

what's the solution then Jim, refurb? A damn good application of bead sealer? My car hates me.

I meant them to thoroughly clean / scrub (wirebrush?) the rims where the tyres join. I had that done on mine when I'd twatted a kerb or rock or something and needed new tyres. Despite having some chips out of the alloy rims and a car that weighs as much as the Bowderstone and Glasgow potholes making Sheffield look like a F1 track, I've had no deflation.

I had both rear tyres on the Fab' VRS dropping down to about 12psi in about 10 days. The cause was pitting to the rim of the alloy. The local tyre fitter removed the tyres, then spun the wheels and gently ground down the inner faces where the tyre seats. Sorted it for me.

seems the vRS alloys are very prone to this which I find mildly ironic given with our vRS we had no issue! I'll speak to Hawleys at the weekend.

Anyone used Lovers Leap garage in at Stoney?

Need my car servicing and due to exams etc I'm in the library most of the time.

Thinking if I get it done there, then I can have a few hours at minus 10 and treat it at a revision break...

Actually, it took them ages to find it.

Sat by A46 waiting for recovery, offside front top wishbone broken... Could have been worse, had literally just got off the m4 to avoid some traffic, very glad it didn't let go while I was on the motorway.

First recovery van turned up, only had one of those trailers that you strap the front wheels too - obviously no use when one of them is all wobbly - rang for proper flatbed to put car on, just pulled up, had to pull forward 50m or so to let a lorry get by, then instead of just reversing back to me has disappeared down the lane, which I know has no turning points for a couple of miles!

Wishbone failure, ouch!

I had the AA tell me that they'd definitely have a replacement windscreen for a 1972 VW Camper (Transporter) and to "Not worry, these things are laminated so they won't actually collapse" whilst I was pretty much wearing the shattered windscreen of the van!

I've just had the call back from mine. The starter pack failed again, that'll be the one they replaced not that long ago but given they're now claiming a 30 day warranty on used parts (which is considerably less than the 3 months I was told!) work I'll be paying again. Did I mention the other Indie BMW place in Sheffield?

Newhall BMW.

Even by your standards you're not having a lot of luck with this car P-Ben.

So, since having my hazards on for a couple of hours the other day (see above), my indicators have bust. Seems weird tho, first, after being on for an hour or so, the hazards stopped flashing, and just stayed on. I turned them off and on again, and all seemed fine. When I got the car back from the garage, the indicators were doing the same thing, just staying on rather than blinking. I briefly turned the hazards back on and off, and that seemed to solve it, but today they at first blinked briefly before going out, and now don't come on at all! Any ideas?

sounds like it although I'd change the bulbs first, indicators do funny things although usually they just blink twice as quickly.

How much has the Bimmer cost so far P-Ben?
Picked up my new motor last Friday and the week before I had a look at the front tyres on the Passat and felt quite happy that they'd easily seen me through the last 10k miles and still had loads of life left. Only one pair of fronts after the original Contis expired after 15k seemed quite a good deal really for 3 years... Then last Tuesday some knobhead forced me to the side on Mickley Lane and the pothole I've hit a few times slashed an inside sidewall. New tyre cost £80 and I gave the car back with the unused spare alloy on the front and an brand new tyre in the boot.

If you drive downhill on that road watch out just after you pass the big hay shed on the right after the trees. The pothole is just after it on the left where the roads narrows a bit

Its the hazard/relay box thing. Ah - flasher unit - thats what they're called (thanks memory). Simply a bimetalic strip that bends when a current passes through it (as it heats up) causing it to lose contact - break the circuit, cool down, relax back to its former shape, make contact again and so on... so its mechanical - and I imagine if you leave it on for ages it'll get knackered. Should think a replacement is in the £5-10 range. Normally found in/around the fuse box and shaped like a black cube, c 2 by 2 by2 cm in size...
