If you go down the Octavia route there are the VRS models to which are pretty hot, and tune-able if you want to get silly:

The tuning potential of modern kit is crazy, but why people plough the time and money into making 600bhp-800bhp beasts is beyond me. Between traffic, intelligent motorways, speed cameras and thieves, surely the chances to really enjoy them a severely limited.

Fabia VRS estate was made up until 2014 all had automatic gearboxes and several seem to be within budget and mileage constraints...

The Skoda Rapid Spaceback might also be an option? Looks to be a similar size to an A3.

Haven’t you noticed drivers of supercars tend to sit in the middle lane on the motorway at around 65mph? I’m sure it’s to maximise visibility.

Thought this deserved a post. After banging on here with Duma about rebel blue Volvos with the 4cyl D4 engines, i somehow ended up getting myself a rebel blue Volvo with the 4cyl D4 engine...  Hopefully not too many ' Cars, Cars, Fucking CARS !!' to come out of it.

I've been using my mates Rs2 a bit recently. What a car and what an attention grabbing car it is.
The break alarm goes when warming up. That's likely a couple hundred. Also went out the other night and I'm sure the clutch slipped a little on boost.  God knows what a clutch will cost to replace. My Mrs paid 1200 in a mini diesel.

Anyone got / had / have any experience of a Peugeot 508 estate? Looking at a 15 plate 2l deisal SW and worried that 2 pads won't fit in the boot well....

Cant help with the Pug, but just changed from a Mondeo Mk4 to Mondeo Mk5 estate and disappointed that the boot is definitely smaller. 

Struggling to put two Moon Warriors in now.  The seats don't fold down in quite the same way either now, so seems less roomy in that situation.  Should have done some research first!.

Don’t know if this is the right place, but I have a car stereo question. I have an old (2006?) Honda Civic with a CD player, but it’s not got an auxiliary port to plug in a phone or MP3 players. I’ve had one of those radio connector things but it’s crap, so would rather just plug my phone in directly.

Do I need a new stereo or is there a way to convert the one currently there? It’s not a standard square stereo so might be awkward. Can Halfords manage this or do I need to brave some specialist car stereo place?

Similar to my situation - my Saab had an aux in (very forward thinking for 2006!), which promptly broke after about a month of use.

Get one of the Bluetooth things that plug into your car socket. I got one off Amazon for about 10 fuckalls and it's excellent. Also gives you a USB to plug your charger cable into.
