Renaissance 7b-Baildon Bank
January 31, 2013, 02:50:19 pm

Does anyone know where to find this? I had a little scout around last time and couldn't spy it. Does the YMC 6 number stated on yorkshiregrit have anything to do with the ugly painted numbers? Thinking I might head over with a lamp later.

From the (now) old YMC guide:
Quote
Numbers in brackets were painted below the routes that existed several years ago. Though faded many are still visible and included after routed names to assist location.

So that would be a yes!

Its hidden in the trees right right of the mantel problem.  As you arrive at the crag head into the trees towards that dirty roof problem and then follow the crag leftwards, towards the big boulders near the mantel nose thing.  Its behind a big boulder and needs a clean.

Thanks for that. I'll check it out. May well go with a brush on a walk first then.

It was known as Gold Rings Alternative in the 98 grit guide but due to the loss of a huge flake it became the problem it is today. Best approach via the Epitaph/Hades roofs (righthand side looking in) and squeeze behind the huge pointed boulder (lots of debris from a recent rockfall) , problem starts sat in the pit 20m to the right at the base of the rightward facing corner of Gold Rings. Mats and spotters are a must as it get quite high.
