Famous holds I own
April 29, 2004, 02:26:58 pm
Here's a new thread for all those climbing sados.

Her's my collection of holds that no longer exit in theire original form and a few other hold owners.

The original crux foothold from Powerband circa 1998 (The middle is definately easier now).

The bottom of the big flake at the end of Make it Funky (about 15Kg of Limestone currently a nice feature in my yard. 2000ish.

A section of the spike from Pump up the Power (again slightly easier since.
1997 or so.

The original Hulk foothold (broken by Lucian Cottle) circa 1995.

John Hart has the original (not well publicised) lip of the Revalations pocket which bacame significantly harder. 1995 or so.

Any other hold collectors out there?

Andy

I believe Scouse D has an extensive collection of bits of various bits of North Wales classics. Proof, if it were ever needed, that this man pulls harder than anybody.

i broke a foothold off Crystal at roche abbey - dangerous dave had the hold, dunno if he's still got it.

I'm sure at uni some lads had chunk of a slate route that still had the bolt in it.

i think scouse is taking jerry's roof over to sheffield piece by piece - i suggest you send some of the north wales 'mafia' over to stop him

p.s. if he ever learnt to crimp how hard would he pull then..?? blimey

i, of course, have never broken a hold off. or have I?

Indeed I have ripped a few holds off in my time but they were all given to others for safekeeping- ain't ripped any off for a while though-I'm saving myself for something special- maybe the top jug of boysens groove or the whole break of the barrel traverse...

shame on you scouse!

The pocket on Slackers exploded in my hand once (shredding my fingers!), didn't take the bits home though. Anyone else broken holds on natural grit?

i wish i was good enough to be even on beau geste, never mind in a position to stand on the pebble!

Yeah only a pebble - mine is off low pebble wall at Caley, but it wasn't remotely crucial, so i didn't bother gluing it back on - saving it for a woody sounds like a wicked idea!

crucial left hand lay-away on Grizzly Arete at RHS is currently languishing on my hearth. Luckily I left a similarly sharp crimp in its place!

I once "comfortized" a hold at Brimham, but I didn't keep the bit I knocked off.

i once broke a metolius minijug off at the edge woody. didn't keep it though - and probably did everyone a favour as they're toss holds.

I seem to recall that when the afore mentioned foothold on the hulk came off i sat with Mr harris and glued it all back together with super glue!
We used to have a right collection at clubgarden road, mainly limestone strangely
i was given the crux jug and flake off weedkiller as a 21st birthday present, a large hold that fractured andy goerings wifes head with blood and skin and hair still attached
i was spotting a mate when he pulled the large undercut off on the right hand side of Toms roof that is now stuck back on

Managed to pull a flake of a certain route at Burbage south when soloing.  It landed on my lap and then I spent 30 mins shitting myelf before I could finish!
Think i left it in Sheffield somewhere
