My daughter is 8, and well keen. Properly tenacious and not afraid to get pumped and go through a bit of pain to finish a problem, but she's always struggled with feet and ended up frustrated. I've always been a bit cynical about rock shoes for kids, what with them being kids and growing out of stuff quite quickly etc. Over the xmas hols though, I decided feet were the issue, so we bought a pair of the Decathlon slippers... the difference is night / day.... I've always thought kids do stuff instinctively, and now we have toe/heelhooks, smearing, last minute scrubbing of a toe before some kind of dynamic hand swap... Brilliant, I love it, even if I'm just there to stand behind and offer words of advice / encouragement.

I still wouldn't bother for the 5 year old footless winder though...
