Ankle injury...
March 27, 2012, 01:07:47 pm
Hi,

Twisted my ankle on Sunday at Bridestones. Ended up in A&E at Rochdale. An X-Ray showed no break but based on my description of the horrible popping niose, and the size of the swelling they suggested a suspected partial tear of the tendon that runs down the outside of the ankle.

I spent a full day on Monday, icing and elevating and the swelling has gone down and I can walk if careful with no pain.

My question is: should i be able to walk if this really is a tear and if it is a tear, should I be walking at all, but rather resting?

I should add this was entirely my fault and the least I deserve for being such a punter!  :-[

[Disclaimer]Without seeing it, this is guesswork[/disclaimer]

Tendon tear would be unusual.  Most commonly it'll be a partial tear of eg anterior talofibular ligament or similar.
In that case, it can take a couple of weeks to significantly settle.

I'm not a doctor and I'm not giving you any advice.

But I was told to walk on my sprained ankle as much as possible and rest if it started aching. Apparently it heals better than too much rest.
