yes really

I know it's a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have such a thing lying unused in their, their relatives' or their neighbours' garage that you need to get rid of at a knock-down price?

All I really need it for is going to the park with the kids and getting to work. Max round trip of 2 miles, so well worn batteries shouldn't be much of a problem

I'd be up for using a gun-powered wheelchair if such a thing is available - got to be better than these fucking crutches

any other ideas/solutions will be most welcome

*edit*
humorous replies and pisstaking will also be welcomed

I can only tell you what I know about Liverpool, Sheffield might be different. There is probably very little likelihood of a motorised wheelchair through usual channels - NHS/Age UK. They're expensive and in short supply with an urgent waiting list, even more so for those designed to operate outdoors as well as in. I guess you know this.

Not all is gloomy however. Think how good your triceps will push after 2 months in an unmotorised cheapo NHS chair with a wonky axle and a slow puncture. Struggling on top-outs will very soon be a thing of the past :)

Good luck with the recovery and rehab, I'm sure you'll be fine in due course!

If you change the plates I bet the rozzers won't suspect a thing.

Sounds like 'chair hire is "free". Scooters from 25 squid for 1 week.

From the Sheffield references I assume you're out of my jurisdiction (not in my health board) otherwise I could possibly sort you out with some wheels. Mrjohnathanr is right, you have no chance getting motorised wheels with the NHS if it's a temporary impairment.

I've negotiated a deal with them for 6+ weeks hire, but would still be up for buying my own and selling it on later if the right opportunity comes up

my triceps get enough of a workout carrying Kong (The Boy) round the house and up the stairs - all using a backwards bum shuffle technique. I'd like to keep the guns fresh for this domestic use

thanks people

I'm not sure that you lot could handle that amount of thrill power

I mean, 4mph is pretty hardcore

interesting to note that I can get a mobility scooter for less £ than I would spend on public transport

Who pays for the charging and does that balance out the cost of public transport?

See if you can get a GT3, they can do 15mph!!

I presume once you've got the hang of it,you will be trading it for a tandam version for you and the missus.

Mobility scooters are two a penny in Barnsley. They can often be found parked outside bookies or a pub. A screwdriver ought to do it.

I have noticed that Barnsley sellers seem to be over represented in the mobility scooter section on ebay

Have a mate who has inherited a "shop rider" 6 speed in red. Great nick. He wants £500 for it! Mansfield area. Takes up to 15 stone! Would that suit your needs?

I picked one up on Monday cheers

action pics/video to follow when it stops raining...

I'll be selling it on when I'm done with it - might suit a similarly bust up climber in a couple of months time
