5.10 Hornets- Any good?
November 28, 2011, 01:21:54 pm
I have had a try of these and they feel pretty nice but the rubber is very thin. Anybody had them for a while comment on how they perform and last? Basically, are they as good as Dragons??????

I think that Ned was using them on the grit a fair bit and seemed to rate them

Ned has the prototypes with stiffer soles. I'd like to love these shoes, but they're too thin/soft for all-round use.

Never had dragons to compare them to, but i really like the hornets. As mentioned they're too soft for all round use but when they're good, they're very very good. Found them to be particularly suited to places like the bowderstone/cave etc. where you are stretched out and really need to claw with your feet.

£100ish is a lot for something that's super specialised and also feels as if the soles will go through if you stand on anything sharp. However they do look VERY cool.

They aren't cheap but what shoes are these days? I haven't had any issue with the thinness of the soles at all (lasted 8 months so far and no sign of going through yet) and because they only get used when they're needed, they'll probably last a fair while longer.

Thats how i'm justifying the price to myself anyway... though i'm very curious to see if pythons might do the same job for £20 less.

I'd like a pair that i could pull out for that special redpoint, but the rubber is so thin i can't really justify it. good for sponsored heroes

Are they not just lace up Teams then? They seemed pretty soft and thin

Really would not recommend them! Cant see why you would pick these over the Solutions etc.. ive got both and i hardly wear them due to the lack of toe and heel hooking ability!  :badidea:
