Real ale in manchester
November 18, 2011, 07:40:16 pm
A sheffield team heading over to Plastikman in Manchester in a couple of weeks. Looking for a decent boozer, preferably with quality real ale, somewhere in the vicinity of The Academy. Real ale and minimal techno, a winning combination...

Don't bother with Kro its seriously pricey and the beers not great. Trof doesn't do really do real ale but its a good spot and just over the road you've got Sandbar which is probably your best bet around that way. I'm not sure you'll have much luck finding any minimal techno but at all costs avoid Jabez Clegg which although very close-by has some of the worst kept beer I've tasted in Manchester.

Haven't been before but I'm having a pre-gig drink in Sandbar tonight; will report back.

I forgot - had a good pint of Absolution in Sandbar. Bit self-consciously hip but a nice place to have a quiet drink and a chat, don't think there was any music?

Not familiar with this place myself but looks like it will have at least one very interesting beer:

That sounds more like a poncy coffee than a beer.

I can assure you, that bit is already sorted. Plastikman cometh!
