Mountain biking in the peak

Can anyone recommend some easyish routes for a relative newcomer to mountain biking in the peak please?
I know there are books available but I'm skint.
Cheers for any info,
Si.

It's really worth saving up for/borrowing the book from Vertebrate.

A classic route you can do from town:  Endcliffe Park and out along Porter Brook, you end up at Norfolk Arms in Ringinglow. Then go onto Houndkirk Tor track to Fox House. Past Longshaw and onto Blacka Moor, keep an eye out for the left turn to get onto the nice bit of singletrack. Finish off as you like, I usually go through Eccleshall Woods to get home.
