We have just returned from an excellent explority trip around loch maree boulder fields. Interestingly these arent mentioned in the scotland bouldering guides, although there are some fantastic boulders, one especially (photo) with numerous stunning lines.

We would be interested to hear from folk that have explored this area before.

Hi Simon, some stuff has been done here over the years but as you know yourself there's so much rock and only a fraction will have been checked out.

Nice! I do recognise that boulder. Great rock. I've done both aretes but they had already been done years before I got there.  I didn't do the line you are on in the pic though.

The aretes look good, ther wall to the right has a number of great up problems, the central flake is a classisc. We did other stuff on the opposite side of the road, the best? being the traverse in this picture.

We also did a good route down and right of the good boulder, an obvious rounded buttress. we climbed the wall direct and just left of the main arete, with marginal pro and great moves high up, at about E1 5a ish. Again cannot find this in the guides, although it is very good. The arete itself is about mild VS.

Not sure about Stork Chris, only seen him a couple of times at the crag, I think he maybe lives abroad somewhere.

Every time I go cragging in the NW I find untouched and undocumented boulders. There is just so much rock around, you just need to find the best bits. The potential around Rubha Mor is enormous too; more Reiff like rock.

Simon40, drop a message to John Watson at Stone Country. He has a reasonable idea of what is done where by who.
