Sorry I'll try and move it of the monkey polishing, and back to the Elderstatesman. I too saw the video and was wildly disapointed with it, not the quality of the film but the quality of the route, essentially it looked like HVS crack to a hands off rest, one Hard, no Very hard move (I'll give him that) with gear above you feet!, Swing don't let go and then romp up jugs to the top.

Personally I'd have preferred to see him working some 9a, so I could see this man on his top form playing his game.

I sound pretty negative there, its just I feel this ascent has been over rated just because its a new line on grit. Just because its new or hard doesn't neccessarily make it quality, although if it was a boulder problem I'd have packed my pad already.
