  • Sport climber, too weak to boulder
The wall immediately right of ' a bigger splash'on the Kudos wall at Rubicon has been recently done, and is good value. We continued this today up and to the natural break using small crimps and a small flake. Thinking 6B for the full link, and good with it....a welcome respite from the 7's on this wall!!

It's called A bigger Prize

http://peakbouldering.info/problems/1747

I went direct, rather than using holds out to the right (only because I didn't see them) when I did it. Which might explain the grade difference. It was freed from the ivy and cleaned by Bonjoy.

So as I understand it, this (video below) is not Bigger Prize as it uses the positive little flake on the upper wall to get to the finishing break - it is in fact slightly to the right of Andy B's original. This problem is easier than Millers' so should get about 6B, which ties in with what other folk say.

I only ask as I was about to write it up on peakbouldering.info - any suggestions for names (seeing as first conquering hero might be hard to establish)?

2nd Prize, Smaller Prize, Easy Winnings, Bigger Than Banks?

to me, 6B in lime feels like 7A on the brown stuff

As someone who's done it and thought they'd done the 7a, I quite like "2nd Prize".

All good, I only know because I read it elsewhere, not claiming any IT knowledge or nuffink.

What we really need is a similar video of A Bigger Prize...I think it's the Schrödinger's cat of Rubicon.

To my mind there's no point in squeezing in a million problems on one bit of wall and making everything eliminates, detracting from them all. If it's close enough to Bigger Prize to be mistaken for it then it's really just the same line, and we used a duff sequence when it was first done. I'd just downgrade Bigger Prize rather than having two problems on top of each other with shit and confusing rules. The only place for eliminates these days is Minus Ten and Pinches Wall.....and the end of Powerband.....and the end of Jerry's Traverse on the business block, and non of those are the pinnacle of Peak bouldering.

Dave might have something to say regards Pinches if his problems of the year type contributions are anything to go by   ;)

I don't think I'd understood just how on top of BP the easy version was.

Sticking with Bigger Prize is cool for me.

Now, who stole the dab-tree? I'm guessing that the easy looking stuff right again will be cleaned and climbed...
