edelrid crux VS BD mondo
April 22, 2011, 02:20:06 am
Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying a new crash pad but I don't know which one to take between the mondo and the edelrid crux. I can't find anything about the quality of the foam of the edelrid pad, do they soften fast?

any info( pros and cons) is welcome and hopefully I'll be able to make a decision

thanks in advance

Adrien

I didn't even know Edelrid did mats!

The foam in the Black Diamond mats is generally good, however the build quality of mine seems a bit shoddy as various straps have broken off over the three years that I've had it. The foam in it is still good though.

The old Mondo's are a nice size but:

- a bitch to carry as they weight a lot
- The waist belt used to be too low so it would go over your hips instead of sit on top
- Tricky to fit in most car boots.

I'd go for a Saturn over a mondo:

- The weight saving
- The cost
- The foam life. Youngy's foam hasn't lasted anywhere near as well as the stuff in my Saturn. The newer Mondo's may be better though?

Not really tried the Edelrid mats but Neil H has used one for a while - might be worth pming him
