today while at almscliff i pinged off demon wall lh and ripped the end of my finger tip fairly badly.plenty of blood and then a bit of pain but im wondering if its best to tape it down or to cut the flap off and keep it uncovered.at the moment ive used some suiture strips to keep he flap down on all corners and it seems to be sticking ok so far but im worried about how long it will take to heal as im due in font on the 20th march so not climbing for a few weeks beforehand is a big set back
what you think?

doesnt show full extent as the flap is almost to the end but is a good 5mm side to side at the join
anything i can do to speed the healing up beyond keeping dry and sanding down after it healed to avoid ridges,vitamin E oil?climb on?

Looks pretty deep! I would cover it and let it heal, keep it covered until it grows out.

Give it a week or two to heal, as you are going to font for months I wouldn't sweat it too much. better to have it in tip top shape when you hit font rather than have fucked fingers before you even get there and try and get more climbing in.

were you at the cliff today like?
only going to font for a month now so ideally like to be ready a week beforehand so i can climb a bit.
if its not ready by then i can always go a week later but dont want to get caught up with the easter rush

Personally i try and not climb for at least 4-5 days before a font trip to get some decent skin on my fingers, as this is always the limiting factor for a font trip for me - skin goes before anything else, in spite of liberal application of assorted unguents.

The plan was to have a week off before I went but with I can't affair to have a full 3 weeks off beforehand or I will waste the first week in font although I can get some core in and some back 3 and lock offs even with one dodgy finger so it won't be the same as a fully not climbing.

Garlic. It's full of vitamin E. Try slicing some finely and rubbing onto your fingers: you'll see the difference. The bonus is you'll be culturally prepared for that first step onto French soil so it's a win-win situation.

Cut it off, let it dry out, then use Dream Cream. I did an almost identical one on that bastard pebble (now thankfully dead) on WSS and it healed up pretty quickly.

i would never knowingly discuss joe simpson 

have excised the offending skin and applied liberal amount of vitamin E oil to the rather sore looking patch where my beautiful skin once resided so hopefully in a few days it will have dried enough to start sanding the edges down.

the big downside is knowing that when i get back on demon wall left hand i will be worrying about the same happening again
