That's why I've not made public my goal of climbing 9a.

I post mine mostly to remind me what they are, I have a scatterbrain like a grenade in a ball bearing factory and tend to forget what I actually want to do...!

I'm going to strive for less specific goals this year as I think I failed on all of my goals last year.  I find that for specific routes/problems I can be thwarted by the weather/where others want to go/not having a siege mentality.

Goals:
Develop a siege mentality
Onsight/flash F8a (probably abroad)
Onsight E7
Do another Birkett route
Go to Pembroke
Do some DWS
Spend next winter in Spain
Finish my PhD

Develop a siege mentality

What lock yourself in your house, pour hot tar on anyone who knocks on the front door and drink your own piss?

Pretty much.  Although I have running water and can pay my water bill online so will probably only resort to drinking my own piss for medicinal purposes.

Sounds like you are going at it halfheartedly. Only when you build a trebuchet in the back garden for launching dead household pets at passersby will you prove you are committed.

And any particular Birkett? Dave? Bill?

Fair. Personally I'd like to look back at this thread at the end of the year and make an assessment of how the year went, and try to refine my methods/aims to make next year more successful.

Brownstones is my local bouldering venue, so my 2011 aims:

Digitation
Verdinand
Groundhog
The pool traverse (Only if dry!  )

Other venues:
Longridge - something around 6a/b ish. Any suggestions?

Whilst it's a great line, I don't think Groundhog is a giveaway at the grade!
