[The Guns of Navarone][Black Ladders][VII.5 7]
December 03, 2010, 10:50:31 am
Absolutely crazy kick off to the winter season here in North Wales. So much happening it's hard to keep up, but the first of the big events comes from Chris Parkin and Tim Neill. Awesome line, incredible effort...

Good start! Once things consolidate here conditions should be amazing. At the moment it's waist deep wading into certain avalanche death.

The lads have offered a curious grade of VII.5 7 for it, which translates as ‘hard VII’.

5.7 is about VS isn't it?

It's super wintery over here, everything frozen solid, but the snow is at quite a manageable level.

And to think last year was heralded as the strongest winter in a generation. This could be the really big one!

I've never known Chris to be phased by a route on the Ladders but it sounds like he really pushed the boat out this time.

"Bring your big guns for this one!" he wrote in the book description.

Think how jealous I feel - stuck in the office getting the winter guide finished while everybody else is out playing (doing new routes and making it harder for me to finish the bloody thing!). Got to work again tomorrow, but come Sunday I'm defintely going out.
