avoid DIY resoling like the plague.
the only reason these kits are on the market is to help climbers ruin their shoes and force them to buy new ones.

Besides, for that price after p&p from the US it would be cheaper to send them to somewhere in the UK.

Thanks will steer clear, checked the postage and they quoted $37 dollars for packages up to 1.5Kg!!

Put it this way, if professionals who do it all day every day still manage to regularly do a terrible job of resoleing shoes, I'm guessing it can't be that easy.

Most climbers who're bothered about their shoe performance on anything even vaguely technical will try a professional resole probably once in their life and never have one again, and for good reason.

Why are professional resoles so bad? Must be a gap in the market as new shoes are heading towards the £100 mark!

The problem is that by the time you get to the point of needing a resole your foot has stretched the upper in the shoe and pretty much destroyed the last (shape of the shoe). So its pretty much useless, much better better off biting the bullet and getting a new shoe, you'll also fin you save money buy keeping shoes specifically for indoor use, and outdoor, using one set of shoes for everything will destroy them in no time.

It's never just the sole that goes, it always seems to need a new rand section as well, which changes the feel.

I use mine on rock only then when they wear out I get 'em resoled and use them only for indoor. Resoled good ones are better than new cheap ones I reckon and the price is about the same.

I have to say that the last few pairs of 5.10s I've had have fallen apart due to the quality of the upper- the rubber hasn't been an issue (except where it peels off the toe box).
