[Forever Laughing][Blackers Hole, Swanage][F8a]

Laughing Arthur in Blackers Hole was partially retrobolted by Andy Long and Bob Hickish over a year ago with Pete Oxley's permission. Myself and Bob went back this Autumn to finish the bolting job and tick the route.

We've essentially put a variation route based around the outstanding roof crack pitch of Laughing Arthur. LA in it's current state has some seriously loose rock on it and even the cleaning job we did some parts was pretty forking dangerous. This newer line avoids the loose rock and follows less of the crack climbing.

Pitch 1. Start up Infinite Gravity and break out left at bolt 6 to tackle the hanging ramp line. Follow this until the overhanging corner (meets back with original pitch 1 of LA) is reached and guano and spooky climbing is encountered...

Pitch 2. The monumental roof crack. Total quality!

Pitch 3. Climb the old pitch of Coma 2 to the Infinite gravity belay.

7c, 8a, 7a+.

A real adventure - not your average sport climb!!

FA: Bob Hickish and Tom Randall

Sounds amazing. Is this the bolting that caused some fuss at that other forum?

No the bolting that I think was causing fuss was of the arete near to Giant Slayer. It's outside of the bolting zone - hence the fuss.

Everything is the cave seems to be ok for bolting now and Bob's mega project down there looks absolutely incredible! There's some definitely 8c - 9a+ potential down there for sure. Just needs the effort of trying to not get killed whilst bolting!!
